You've repeated this ad nauseam on these boards, but it's not the slam dunk you seem to think it is. AI can be used to replicate the art style (a term to which you seem to be inexplicably allergic) of any game or intellectual property you care to name. It in no way indicates that the end result is without merit or devoid of artistic vision. And yes, I'm already anticipating your reply, which will inevitably be something along the lines of "but THIS game is lauded for its art design," to which I reply - so what? People find it compelling; why have you made it your personal crusade to disavow them of their enjoyment?
"When people are talking about the "art style," they're not talking about minutiae like the structural realism of bombed out buildings and how much dust the mechs have on them. They're talking about the marriage of the thematic elements with the overall aesthetic. Specifically, the combination of an uncompromisingly grim, post-apocalyptic setting with fan-service elements like faux-Titans, mechs, corpse tanks and things of that nature. Yes, the actual graphical fidelity is a component of that, but that's NOT only what people initially responded to. It's the overall look and, more importantly, FEEL of the world that pulled people in."
It's dystopian post end war grunge with FAN-SERVICE, and the Cubists will back me up on this.
Played the game yet?
No, I thought not. Never mind, though - let's set aside, for the moment, the fact that you've never spent so much as a single second actually playing the game to which you're so vehemently opposed, for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason (even though you've claimed to own it but can't run it in some threads, claimed to have spent hours in it in others, and said you refuse to buy it in still others, but I digress).
Instead, perhaps you'd care to actually respond to what I said, rather than quoting something from a completely different thread - something which, I might add, ironically just reinforces what I said in the first place. That is the definition of the art style, it's what people find compelling, and it's why they want it in book form. While you're at it, feel free to also address my comments on how, frankly, stupid it is to try to invalidate something because you're able to make cheap knock-off 2d versions of it in an AI image generator.
Or, just stick to the usual tactic of making an asinine comment, then slinking away when challenged on it.
You two remind me of a couple of drunkards that stumbled into a bar and were just yelling ♥♥♥♥. No one really knows wtf you’re going on about. Stop being weirdos. To the point on ai, let people use what they want, you use what you want. Very simple.
To the OP- agreed!
Stick around for a bit. You'll figure it out.
Well said!
Not sure I care about whatever little online steam forum vendetta is going on lol. If someone irks you to the point of it leaking over to other threads it’s time to use the block button.
Normally I'd agree with you, but this particular individual is a very well known troll around here who doesn't own the game but for some reason has a vendetta against it and actively attempts to turn people against it at every turn. Thats why i said stick around and you'll see. One of his favorite tactics is to imply that everyone who likes the game's art style is stupid, since anyone can recreate it in an image generator (hence the comments above).
Anyway, yes, it's stupid, but I want this game to succeed, and I have an issue with people who don't even own it actively trying to undermine it.
I mean that’s the knee jerk way of looking at it I guess.
you’re giving folks like that too much credit - if the game is worth its salt which I think it is, it’ll simply succeed. This one dude isn’t going to bring it down.
There’s the other side to that also in that he’s allowed his opinion on whatever he wants even if he hasn’t played it. Is that dumb? Yep. Do I want to engage with that? Nope.
You secretly enjoy the confrontation admit it ;)
