Can demo players play with full owners?

I’m guessing the demo will be a diff version and won’t get updates so wouldn’t be able to co-exist with the main but I’m guessing tbh.

Are you only buying for coop or you’ll be playing SP too? If both and If you’re buying the game anyway, have him download the free demo once you do- soon find out?

No, you can not. I had to download the demo as separate game myself to play with friends. If you try to invite demo players to your game, or get invited by friends who are playing the demo you get "license not found" error.

I dont believe so but it is a lot more fun with other people. I have one brother I play with regularly and it's a blast. I've had really good luck with randoms joining my lobby too but just wish there was voice chat in game - proximity chat would be good with this type of game.

No, and the save files are incompatible with the full version too, so continuing your journey from demo to full isn't possible...
