How the Water thieves Work
OK, from what i have been able to gather the way the water thieves work is a way to stop your save from wiping if you run out of water as well as a quest or 2 with them appearing.

This includes a quest to rescue a thief and getting recruits as a reward, please do not ask about the recruits I do not know yet.

IF you hit 0 water your base is locked down by the thieves. you then must kill a few of them and if you succeed you get water from them and keep your items, base, and rep. if you fail to kill them you get the original water death and you loose your stash, base, and rep. character and weapon EXP remains.

This is what I know so far, feel free to add on anything else if you learn it.

Yes, you can see the water elves at 2:06.

The mechanic reminded me of "This War of Mine".

Edit:

God, this game is 10 years old and still looks beautiful. For anyone who has not heard of the game:

Is this all stuff they mentioned in the Discord?

Basically, in "water 1.0" your base was wiped, in water "1.2", you have a chance to save your base.

If your water gets to zero, when you load in, you see blue elves in your base, and you have a fight to the death. If you win then you get to keep your base.

It's like a lovely home-invasion, or a bank robbery in point break:

I've been avoiding buying until I see what direction they take with the water mechanic...but that might be enough to convince me to get it.

Good decision!

I didn't get it Day1 but couldn't hold back. So bought it some days after and water mechanic isn't that hard to get, farmed 2 months and some reserve just in case...

Thanks for the extra details, thats a pretty cool system. At least now if you dont play a while, you get a chance to save your stuff.
