lost all progress

120 hrs played lost all progress post update had 50+ days of water, tons of loot etc.

Do you know how or why?

I've just worked out how to exploit the save location so I can reset without losing all progress. It might be worthwhile manually backing up save files if this is bug related.

A few people have reported something like this, did you switch computers maybe? Because all Data is stored locally for this game.

Files stored should be under: C:\Users(your username)\AppData\Local\ForeverWinter\Saved

Its possible that you might have had a local save wipe, And Forever Winter might not have had cloud saves implemented yet.

Cloud saves were working on pc and steam deck no problem

Were you able to locate your save data?

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\ForeverWinter\Saved

After every game.

found the save folder, bunch of file folders and exr files, config etc
Savegames folder has 2 DAT files dated for 12/5 and other setting files

I'm sure there's lots of comments bound to this topic across the boards.

Look around a bit and you might source your solution. Finding your local saves was the first step.

There should only be one file. It seems you are checking in the wrong place and need to learn how to utilise a file directory. That's my interpretation of your current struggle. Your search engine is your best source of information on this.

No misunderstanding or resolution, previous files are completely gone. Starting over but prob won’t play as much anymore.
