around release there were guides about how to get water but i dont see the point in looking at guides when playing games, is it actually that easy or is it a spot you have to know about, in about 10 raids i barely found anything useful and would extract full of junk cause the bots and environment wouldnt spawn anything worthwhile
Getting water is basically just memorizing the few spots on each map that it spawns and then routing between those sports before extracting.
It's very boring to farm.
Fundamentally it makes an obligation out of regularly doing the most boring thing in the game as real life upkeep.
To avoid the water thieves while you're away playing other games, you'll either need to leave the game installed and taking up space on your hard drive or remove and install it as needed so you can login to babysit your water supply and transfer water from your stash to your supply as it drains in real time. The supply only lets you store about 2-3 months of water at a time, but you can grind 100s of barrels if you wanted and keep those in your stash.
The only other option is to mod or hack your game so you have infinite water.
I like extraction games, but this doesn't feel like a good fit in its current state.
Yep. The way the mechanic is currently setup, it only punishes inactive players instead of incentivizing people to play. The whole "keep playing our game or we'll try and wipe your base." Like others have mentioned, the water system fails to achieve what it was designed to do, which is an attempt to pressure players and induce anxiety as the devs say. However, when gathering water takes no effort and you can stockpile it in your stash, it quickly renders the whole system pointless.
I play a few core games and rotate a variety, so I uninstall stuff to make space since a lot of games are 100 GB. At any time, I can return to any of those games and pickup exactly where I left off. The same can't be said for TFW if you don't stay topped off and get raided.
Easiest way is from repeatable quests, two explosives for two water, some are just recon extract from this map 1 = day of water , so you don't need to actually loot it persay but you can if really want
so for new players, prioritise lockboxes / gatcha over water for the income and vendor rep bonus
After trying the demo a few times water isn't a major issue.
Its the entire rest of it haha.
It needs more time in the oven.
Ai is bad, animation is bad, frame rate is bad (though that might be down to my crap GPU) ai spawns feel off and everything seems aimed at you despite you not being the guy, but worst thing is movement mechanics. They feel horrible.
Eg you can't sprint and strafe at the same time like most fps and third person games. When you sprint your A and D keys get locked and it feels horrible.
To be fair i'm coming from games like Darktide and Titanfall 2 that spoil you with great movement. Even on low setting mouse movement feel stuttery. So you need a strong computer as its really not optimised at all.
BUT the world is crazy detailed and looks great when you take pictures. And the idea/theme is great too.
It just need a lot more time.

Ok. I have 500 water. So what? The system is still ♥♥♥♥ and doesn't provide any meaningful game play, besides bringing back more water to stockpile for...what reason exactly?
