The Forever Winter

The Forever Winter

Not a fan of the water system
I want to play this game, I really do, it looks great but the fact there's a real life timer kills it for me. I'm not saying it should be removed from the game, the developers should just add a toggle so both kinds of players can enjoy this.

Having a toggle would defeat the entire idea.

Stakes/pressure you can opt out of, aren't stakes/pressure at all.

I mean this in the nicest way, but maybe just play one of the hundreds of other similar games out there; instead of trying to change this one?

Getting Water is easy, and even if you take months off they added the water thief mechanic so you have the chance to craft a loadout and kill AI in the base to save your water/stash. They haven't fully implemented Water 2.0, I think they said this is technically Water v1.2 with the October update, but they gave players a chance to avoid water death entirely.

Best thing you can do Sukhoi, along with others who dislike the water mechanic, is keep leaving not recommended (thumbs down) reviews on their steam store page. Bad ratings are the only thing that will possibly make a game developer change something if nearly half the player base hates it.

As for the rest of y'all complaining about people giving their feedback, we all paid for the game too, and are just as entitled to our opinions and providing feedback for features we don't like.

Why don't you just go back to playing tarkov then?

10k positive and 3k negative reviews is not half but anyway you’re also entitled to do some research before you buy games, or maybe play the free demo ..not buy it no likey something and then shoot the dev with a negative review, then expect them to change it because a few people threw their toys out the pram.

There is a mod for this, its called Wemod. Sadly the infinite capacity mod was taken down last i checked, but Wemod can give you infinite water barrels at least.

use cheat engine, all data is stored locally.
it's in your memory, find the data for water, and change it, shouldn't be to hard to do.
Oh and then stick a middle finger up at the devs for making such a garbage system.

also to all of you defending the water system as is. please PLEASE move out of your moms basement many of us can not commit to a game 100% all the time, and being punished for that is sick.

Water system is garbage and will hurt the game more than it will bring to the table. Devs need to pull their heads out of their asses if they want the game to be successful.

The biggest issue for me is, that water is meaningless while actively playing, since it's very easy to build up a water storage, but kinda punishing once you stop playing for a longer time , since it wipes a good chunk of your progress.

With that being said, they have already added a last stand fight, that gives you a chance of protecting your stuff and they are working on a complete overhaul of the water system.

Yup was gonna buy it, now with that system in place i'm gonna buy something else. I travel alot for work, sometimes I don't play for a month so basically this game is not made for people like me.

Nearly half the player base dislikes the water system if you go scroll through a lot of those positive reviews, especially the earlier ones. Many of them make mention of the trash water system in a negative light. I don't have a developer key to pull 14k comments to filter and make a giant spreadsheet on the topic, but maybe I need to look into that so people can view actual objective data.

Also, this is an early access game and FunDog asked players to provide feedback in their Discord and elsewhere. We've provided our feedback in our reviews. Many of us during the closed Beta told them the timer was terrible. If the devs don't want to disable real time decay, they can continue getting negative reviews because people are going to express things they dislike about games they've spent money on. Leaving negative reviews is the only way to get these developers attention when the community at large doesn't like something, and not even that is a guarantee. I don't know why people are trying to white knight some faceless company or try to tell people what they can like and dislike.

Yep, was interested until i saw that the game doesn't respect that there's a world outside and a life i have to live with obligations that might mean i need to not play for a week.

I just can't get behind a game that has no respect for your time or real life commitments. Hope it hits the mark for those who don't mind such things.
Panther Nov 8, 2024 @ 1:34pm
Had a week long work trip and took a month off playing a couple weeks after release, the time requirements just aren't as extreme as implied.

Something like Raid Shadow Legends disrespects your time. Staggers your ability to progress and offers to sell you the solution for missing a day. Has book system that lands random on ever increasing skill tree, a cost re gear.
Everything is a spit in the face, and it is objectively predatory.

This is just a soft stickiness mechanic, that you can take it or leave while still enjoying the game just as much as anyone else, regardless of how much money or more time they have to funnel into it. Doesn't seem that disrespectful.

I get what you're saying but this is kinda like a end of the world scenario. Hell, it could be our future in real life in the next century. No pause button in real life.

Unironically this. Playing the forever winter demo left me so unsatisfied that I had to check out tarkov. Playing tarkov with the single player mod is probably the most fun I've had in a video game in quite a while.

TFW may be fun in a year or so, but tarkov just hits every beat I was looking for in this game.
