Couldnt have found a way to maintain the setting at all?

Honestly it is insanely disappointing the setting that is a major selling point for this game cannot be maintained. Someone might say "magic zombies blah blah blah." Here's the thing I knew about that. I thought I knew this was going to be a Napoleonic setting zombie game. Instead I have a double action revolver with cased ammunition.
The revolver seems fuelled by that magical stuff (can't remember its name), so it apparently doesn't require powder. Sometimes it looks like there's some sort of red liquid inside.

Its still too damn modern looking. I really wish it could have been some sort of flint lock design instead of a hammer less pile of scorn looking pos.

You're exactly the type of person to try and argue the "its got zombies" angle I posted about. Where did I say any damn thing about realism? I didnt at all. I said the setting matters. The setting is a massive and major selling point. I suppose you could possibly misconstrue that into wanting realism but thats not at all what Im saying.

That setting is thrown out due to what seems to be quiet frankly laziness. Instead of a proper and maybe clever design of a Napoleonic era firearm we get Schofield mixed with some body horror scorn bs. It is way out of the setting and in an entirely different time period. The old American west. It seems just as out of touch as your poor attempt at some sort of "gotcha" comment.

The damn thing could have been a flint flock charged by fairy farts and it still would have fit better then what the devs are trying with this immersion breaking abomination. Doesn't need to have the "MUH REALISM" reloading animation. That could be easily explained away with the other fantastical ♥♥♥♥ going on. Magic infused flintlock pistol that doesn't need to reload as often certainly makes more sense to the setting than Scorn the Scofield double action revolver.

So you're saying it's not REALISTIC for the game to have a revolver instead of a flintlock? Am I reading that right? lmao

Do you understand the concept of grounding in story telling? If I want to pull an audeience into my world. Something that I am creating I need a way to anchor them. Give them something tangable or stable that is easily understood at the basic level. A fact or a rule so to speak. Something the audience can hold onto and be sucked into further maddness or whatever else the story wants to tell. The setting for this game is that fact or rule.

Not only is the setting a point of grounding to keep me anchored in immersion. It is also a setting I want to experience. I want to be in a Napoleonic setting fighting monsters and zombies. Having a piece of iconic techn from another much more famous time period jammed into my face almost immediately starting the game rips me right out of the setting. Not only that, it is your primary means of ranged combat. You need to have it out most of the time it feels. So instead of the Napoleonic War I'm getting the wild west sixshooting rootin tootin vibes.

Like I said before the Napoleonic setting is really something I looked forward to. It is especially an interesting one when it comes to games. Unfortunately what we're getting is unimaginative and honestly overdone.
Yeah, I agree it's lazy design. If you want a multishot weapon, you can make it look like an early pepperbox pistol.
Or mayyyybe due to the dystopian flavor of the game : they had the technology to use magical blood stuff to craft weapons, so they might have the technology to invent multishot weapon ?
It would be a bit more bearable if the devs at least acknowledged the revolver is out of place here and made the character fumble around trying to stick cartriges into the muzzle and asking questions like "wait what, you load these thingies from behind?"
Fully agreed. They actually put plenty of effort into, for instance, animating the sabre cuts properly, so it's a shame they don't go the extra mile with things like that. Especially since any, let alone good, Napoleonic-era fiction is so hard to come by.
Its just a game, the focus should be on fun game play then making sure a single gun is more time accurate.
