whats the plan in the new book puzzle? (SPOILER FREE)

hi i just started the game and i assumed the first puzzle would be easier after the recent patch, but i still got stuck lol

anyone knows what i should be looking for? i've located 3 tampered books so far and the letter on the desk makes me think there are 5 total, yet i've checked every spot and lined up every book i could find, but only 3 are tampered. what am i missing there? (ideally don't give the solution outright but as long as you hide it with spoiler tags its fine)

Please tell me you found an answer cause I think i'm having the same exact problem. the first book is the Greg the grape and has MA with a pineapple, then its the one with the picture of a tree in it, then its the one with MM and DD written in it.

you find the code in the capitalist tree book under the initials MA 0619 i didnt spend 20 minutes looking through all the books 2x

they recently (at the time of writing) did a overhaul on the first puzzle in an attempt to make it easier for others thus causing the code to be changed

The last book has MMDD written in it. This means the code is two-digit month, two-digit day. You check the month and day it was checked out, and then put that as the code. The checkout date is listed in the front desk catalog by scanning each book.

no yeah i got that, thanks, my issue was with how they found out this to be the code but its all good now

The book that says "MA" indicates initials. You're looking for a person whose initials are MA.
The image is of the next book you need to look at.
And then MM/DD means that you are looking for the month and day that MA checked out the final book.

my conclusion was MM/DD being month & date, MA being the initials of one of the guys that checked out the book, and he had checked it out on june 19th. so the code was 06/19.
