It doesn't get better after that. Pretty much every puzzle is a case of "WTF are they asking me for"

They sould've had the books say _ _ X _ (X being the name of the person), and the slot their own is the number, so you'd scan the books and see "Oh, X is on the 2nd slot in this book, and was the 7th person who got the book, so the 2nd digit to the code must be 7!" Simple, like Amanda 1

The date is the checkout date if you scan it using the catalog computer at the front desk.

The puzzle has been changed to be simpler since the game was released. It now requires the month/date that a person with specific initials checked out a specific book.
