They're ancient vessels which scan the galaxy for large energy production and, wherever that energy production is, they will move through -- occassionally dropping artifacts. They can also be destroyed for a large cache of artifacts.

Do killed seed ships ever come back? Or can the game eventually become devoid of new artifacts?

The seed ships are all unique. Each one that stops by started on its course long ago.

When you put it that way it makes me even more sad I accidentally killed one :(
Sarkin Jul 24, 2014 @ 10:47pm
yeah my ships periodically attack them without orders >.< and managed to kill one apparently(since i got the achivement but wasn't watching whe nit occured) hopefully we'll get a button/switch for difference stances in our fleets personally i always prefer the 'don't fire until fired upon' type stances.

or 'hold this position' its kind of annoying when your ships leave where you put them...had it occur with one of my titans it apparently decided to leave where i put it and travel almost off of the edge of the universe ...it was only by dumb luck i managed to notice it in time to order it back >.< I assume it was following a seed ship or something there was no reason for it to have been there and i know i didn't give it any orders to do so because i'm a rather goal specific person i never move anything unless it has a reason to be moved >.< (an if i were going to do so intentionally i would of used something small fast and didn't cost over 7m to replace >.>)

i kinda feel bad about killing remnant fleets in general they survived for who knows how long then our empire comes along and begins blowing them to pieces..if it were me i'd try to research/make contact with them...and try to preserve them as historical artificats or something.

LOL they're probably wrecks like that poor junker in SG Universe.

How much will random things in game ie events, unique interactive ships, artificats, ruins and other things like rebellions etc etc impact the game

some of the artifacts are already extremely powerful. a few 'arcologies' applied to your main planet is huge income.

could do with a few AI ships that fly around collecting the artifacts as well, slowly becoming more and more powerful as they gobble them up.

I'd rather save them for me. Besides, the artifacts don't really address ship power.

hm the Command Control artificat gives 500 extra room per-flagship. and the energy thing , boosts ship performance by about 15% combine that with other boosts like the 10-22% you find in some debris, and the 21% from a high level name ship , and you have a rather sizable upgrade in power for large ships.

and with 500 extra support ships..thats just devastating ^.^ (assuming you still use size 1 ships.) which..>.< anything over 100 ships in a fleet because of the small ring around the ship seems to have the ships having a hard time as to how to stay in formation. so hopefully the ring can be made to expand wit hthe ships maximum fleet size.

you're right. that was careless of me. probably because I value the arcologies so highly but a fleet isn't done till the command ship has an energy cell and command comp.
Still think AI ships picking them up needs to be thought through though. Suggestions are easy. Suggestions thought through are a more rare species. He likes the idea, I don't.
You..you're just looking for mistakes to 'correct' it seems.

But after a long game it's easy to end up with loads of these all over the place not being used. And as interesting as a stale dead galaxy is I would rather have random unique things running about. Kind of like the stuff they had in Sword Of The Stars, just to mix it up a little.

I wasn't aware that the seed ships planted artifacts, so I built a trap in one of my systems to "catch" one. Now I feel like I just killed santa...
