Does anyone know how to modify the AI?
There's probably some way to give a little more life to the game by figuring out how to modify the behavior of the AI. If anyone could figure out how to reprogram the AI, their modding knowledge could provide a huge benefit to the modding aspect to the game. Modding the AI could make it possible for the AI to utilize many mechanics of the game that are usually only used by the player. For example, reprogramming the AI to make it possible for them to use the galactic superpower and galactic utopia influence cards.

did u try the existing improvements mods? I think they do a AI improvement too=
I don't think anyone can be considered an 'expert' on the AI yet, but Dolynick and (IIRC) Solariens have made some progress with it on their respective mods.
I have never looked at the diplomacy side of the AI. Getting it to play a certain card is probably fairly easy to do. Getting it to do so intelligently and under a variety of circumstances is not. The problem with modifying the AI is that it isn't just about scripting. There a whole logic set and decision tree that has to be figured out and that has to be flexible enough to handle more than a certain direct case to be truly effective. That's why you don't always see a lot of it and when you do, it's often more of a tweaking than a true expansion or rewrite. The current AI is structured a certain way and what might seem like a small adjustment can sometimes mean a much larger job than you might expect because you actually have to expand or adjust the structure itself.
