Controls are AWFUL
My god these controls are unlike anything I've ever experienced. Mostly any 3d program would allow you to rotate the dang screen with the right mouse button. This shift + left mouse + mouse wheel crap is horrible.

Also I can't build straight pieces for coasters. Lift hills have a constant curve for example.

There should also be things on the screen like presets for manipulating track that is selected so we don't have to drag everything.

An undo button should have been a no brainer... did the Theme Park Studio devs make this game?

Graphics are awesome, that's about it so far. Right now I'm really frustrated with these controls.

...And also: Let us zoom in where we point the cursor to!!

I'm prob. refunding this beta for the horrible controls alone, let alone the weird stutter when a coaster is going. I have an i7 with gtx 670 ti 2gb ddr5, should be zero stutter.

No limits coaster maker is literally easier than this. I'm flustered trying to make a simple coaster. Maybe the final game will be better but right now I'm really disappointed, I had high hopes for this.

First of all i would like to note that laps has lessthan an hour on record... that being said, ittook me at least an hour to figure out how to use the controls, but once i did,i was astounded at how incredibly easy it is to build an incredible roller coaster. and no, it is not anywhere close to the difficulty that no limits coaster building is. i love the coaster designer and i really dont think they could have done a better job at creating a user friendly, seemless program fo doing so. as for the stutter. THIS IS A BETA! they blatently said that the reason they released the beta weekends was for the community to point out gliches and bugs.THE GAME IS NOT FINISHED and we all should have known that coming in to the weekend. i personally think that this game is deffinetly worth getting and it has a hell of alot of potential. so before you go posting about how "hard" the coaster designer is, how about loggging some hours into the game and then state your opinions.

the coaster building tool has a steep learning curve, but with a bit of refinement and a good tutorial it will be fine. I do think that having more than one way to lay down track would be a good idea. you are right Laps, an undo button is a must!!! Theme Park Studio still dose not have one and thats why even thoe I have it I never play it.

The game is being released in like 2 months... so tired of "this is a beta" excuse. What you see is what you pretty much will get minus a few bug fixes... nothing major.

The average Joe isn't likely going to be able to figure out this complex nonsense coaster editor.

No Limits is actually easier to build with than this, building straight out of the station is literally impossible even with the grid

I played it for an hour (which should be more than enough to make a straight track) and then refunded it while with no limits I learned to make a basic coaster within 30mins or so

i know this is beta therefore aren't we allowed to air our views and ask questions?? I agree with everyone on this discussion I would also like to know why screen edge scrolling with mouse was left out. Having to use the arrow or letter keys when rotating with the mouse scroll key is a pain when moving around the park grounds. RCT2 had edge scrolling and not having this feature is really annoying for the avid RCT players. I would also like to know if there will be the option of also having pre-made rides, just so you don't always have to build your own

It takes some patience since there is only a sandbox and no tutorial or help that I could find. But I was able to figure out a basic coaster and ride it in 30 mins. Keeping things straight is a tad difficult but doable. You definitely have to use the mouse wheel and pay attention to which keyboard number (1,2,3,4, etc.) to hit to trigger what track attribute you want to use. I kept wanting to rotate my view 90/180 degrees to see the other side of the coaster, anyone know what key that is?? That said, I finally noticed the guide section which at least as the keyboard controls.

Their average target audience user isn't going to be able to learn these weird controls let alone have the patience for it. I've messed with some crazy 3d software + games before like No Limits, and 3ds Max and I can say the controls were way easier to get used to in both of those programs because they made sense.

This has (had) the potential to be very easy to use even though it's 3d, but whoever thought of the controls should be fired. I mean you can't even select track segments and apply attributes to it like MAKING IT STRAIGHT! This game is out in a month so I have no clue why they would leave features like that out of a beta when it's so close to release. (If they even will have features like that in the final one).

I've also "trown in the towel" on the BETA weekend because of the controls. If nothing else, take a que from the namesake's controls.

I do appearciate the drag-click to create tracks and paths, but we also need to be able to use the Shift key during the placement to lock to the ordinal directions and keep things square.

Please tell us that the controls are being improved.
I want the edge screen scrolling back in the game Please!!!! Or at least and option for it.

I gave up as well. As a laptop user, the mouse wheel is a ppor choice by the devs if they don't allow the game to respond to a touch pad scrolling gesture

A fix to the horrible coaster building controls would be to NOT have the track that's being built attached to and follow the mouse. Have it like the classic games where the next track to be placed can be deformed + altered by clicking preset buttons at the bottom which manipulate the track.

I.E. a button to bend track, make it straight, bank it, raise, lower, etc. You can still have the "no limits" style of creation but it would be SO MUCH easier + average user-friendly. I'm an advanced PC user and this is even confusing and frustrating me.

By the way... don't even bother with this game if you don't have a scroll mouse. -_-

Maybe you are far less than average then as I had no problems building coasters, straight track etc...

I agree, this game is impressive so far. Hopefully the sim portion of it is just as good.
