Getting a coaster to lift the cart with the chainlift

The only way I seem to get the chain lift or boosters in a cooster is by finishing it first. Then click on the build icon, then select the uphill segments and then add the chainlift. Am I missing the simple way to do this while building or is this some kind of bug?

i think its a bug as i tried this last night while on twitch and a viewer said same u had to finish your coaster then edit it. i also tried the breaks at top b4 a free fall but couldnt get it to work. think an update is needed as ive found a few bugs

You don't have to finish the coaster first but you have to build the piece you want the chain-lift on. You can then select that piece (a track piece between two nodes) and then select the chain-lift mechanism
