However I advice you not to use covert actions against the AI (especially not coup d'etat considering that if you fail it will hurt your relations considerably). Covert action success rate is higher depending on the nations corruption/general political strength and their government form, if my memory serves right, Dictatorships have the highest chance of being target of a successful coup d'etat. While MPD (Multi Party-Democracies) have the lowest.
In game if you fail it will lower relations to rock bottom.
