Make a copy of the files you're planning to edit, and set the files to be opened with the editor on default, this seemed have solved the problem when I began editing files.
I was noticing anyway if I used that particular mod's database in a game, that the database wouldn't open. It works in my original mod folder, but doesn't where I keep all my backups.
Anyway, thanks for the help!
I actually did figure this out, finally! I just copied over DATABASE.gdb and stringTable.english.gst. I created a new MOD with the Editor and replaced the default database and string table with the new one. It opened.
I did some further testing and added a few small things to the vanilla database and stringtable by changing United States to United States of America and adding my hometown, it worked!
Oh thats good then, hope some of what I said helped out!
