The +5 boosts are pretty powerful and change things drastically, especially in the "athleticism" skillset. There's such a big gap between level 20's 95 speed, and level 19 (plus the +5 boost) at 99. Even just having 96 speed is noticeably better than 95 speed, since those skills matter so much in NBA 2k games.
And Larry Bird, ya might still be able to get to 99! How much did you put into rebounding? And have you maxed any skill group out yet?
And the most boosts you can buy is for 99 games. If one thinks they won't play more than 99 games and wanna be like a superman though, pay 14k vc to boost your athleticism +5 for 99 games, and then get your guy up to level 20 for athleticism. You'll be above 99 in several athleticism skills, including dunking, and you'll demolish everyone.
Yeah thats a good point, I created another player recently, and i'm going to ensure I don't make that mistake again. Thanks for your input.
ie.
upgrading 10 points in defense, increases my overall rating by 7
upgrading 8 points in inside scorer, increases my overall rating by 6
on the other hand, upgrading 20 points in playmaking increases my overall rating only by 1 !!!
It is all about upgrading stats that are required at the position you play
Maxing out inside scorer, athlete, rebounding and defense would get my guy to overall 99, and i would still have 20 points left to spend (in shooter or playmaker)
and bought some vc too
You spread so much disinformation on this fourm nothing you say can be taken serousily at this point. You have stated many times you had to cheat to get 99 overall then when proven wrong change your tune.
Well I don't know much about the guy but if you're proven wrong it's probably best to change your tune lol. Don't pull a george W on us.
The best and easiest way to become a 99 as a non-big man is to put nothing in rebounding, and play enuff games to unlock all of the attribute slots. I am 96 (without boosts) in my game with 7 slots left to fill, which I'll likely use on Inside scoring. I'll easily be a 99 then.
My biggest tip that I feel like MOST players don't realize is that it's not good to go to level 20 in any skill. I've not seen a reason why it helps your player, when you can stay at level 19 and use the +5 boosts. For example, if you max out level 20 athleticism, you'll be stuck at 95 speed and quickness, but if you stay at level 19 and use a boost, you'll have 99 speed and quickness. HUGE difference.
Since I had (probably mistakenly) heard that to get On Court Coach you need to max out Playmaker, I have actually gone to level 20 in that. But with the Playmaking skills, there's not a huge difference between 95 and 99... unlike the athleticism skills, where 95 to 99 is a pretty good sized gulf.
I don't care if I am 99 or not, as long as I can be as quick and athletic as possible. I wouldn't mind having less attribute slots available so that there'll be more diversity in what players choose to spend VC on (since in the end, every guard and wing will usually not spend any on rebounding and max the rest).
Yep he's an idiot, ignore him.
If so, then it'd be easy to see if they're hacked. For example, if they're a guard but have rebounding maxed along with all the regular things, then it's clearly a cheat-engine-player. But otherwise, it's really not hard at all to get the VC (without paying) or to open up slots (just need to play games) to get 5 out of 6 skill groups maxed.
If there is no way to see your opponents ratings (except for their "overall"), then I do get why there'd be a question as to who was hacking and who has an actual 99.
