Call it what you want, but the playoff tree is coded in the game and is in fact present in the other modes. It's like they forgot to put it in career mode, or it is in there, but a bug prevents it from being visible. I don't really know.
Why? Noone here knows.
I don't think it was left out by choice. They forgot to put in playoff stats also. You can't check to see league leaders in playoff stats. Why would they have reg season league leaders, but not playoff leaders? There are no playoff stats other than the on screen stats that pop up during the game. So you know the game is logging the playoff stats. It's just that 2k forgot to implement an option to actually view the stats yourself in between games.
Injury news and team transactions is also missing. These options are in other modes so it should have been effortless to implement them in mycareer. There's no logical reason to leave these things out of career mode which is why I think it was by mistake and non intentional.
