Don't let dunkers get a starting run towards the hoop, block the route.
there is a good chance to pump fake people into jumping even without actually pumpfaking if you position yourself somewhere open at the perimeter (3pt line) in certain situations. if a teammate is driving to the basket and gets double teamed, run to an open spot behind the perimeter, stay there without moving pretending going for a catch&shoot and call/hope for an outside pass. most of the time the one marking you comes sprinting towards you either prematurely jumping or stopping in front of you, but there is a delay if he tries changing into the opposite direction if he is sprinting towards you, so try to run pass him at the last second with or without crossover. obivously doesn't work if you do it too often.
stop fast breaks by the opponent if you are closer than your teammate even if it's not your mark just by simply holding intense-D left trigger. he gets caught in the animation which slows down the tempo and gives your teammate time to catch up to transition back to D. ONLY do this if opponent's teammate is not running with him in the lane completely open. he'll pass it 98% of the time if he gets caught in the animation in that situation with an open teammate. IF there is another opponent running down the lane at the fastbreak and you are alone, stay between the 2. now it's just a gamble, which one you are gonna put D on, but don't use intense-D until you've made up your mind since it slows you down and it will be already too late to move. most of the time you'll get run over if it's a tank running towards you, but at least you tried.
i don't know the name for it, but at the very beginning of the game or after a foul when you have to pass the ball to start the game, if your team got the ball and you are not the one with the ball, at first move close to your mark and then move slowly towards your teammate and try to lure your mark to follow. cut to the basket by doing a sharp turn with sprint and there is a high chance for an easy layup. blame lag+reaction, most of the time people can't catch up if they take the bait. good D players leave a bit of a distance and don't start following people like glue from the get go, so doesn't work on them.
Amen!, my computer is a beast I have no idea what he is talking about Lag? offline? that would be called performance lag friend... Not a server issue thats your Computer issue
2. Enter the park
3. Ensure that you "got next"
4. Acquire the ball
5. Run at the hoop and press x
6. Repeat step 5 until you win.
Sometimes retreating with the ball to get a better shot/ passing opportunity is better than trying to press through a tight defense. Fadeaways can be used if none of your team mates are free.
Try cut off a player before he gets the chance to get enough momentum to dunk on you/your team.
Foul when there is no other chance to stop them.
Stay on your man as much as possible.
Don't use the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "fall" animation on court. It's stupid and often costs on the other end of the court.
If you know your character is a worse shooter than your team-mate, try to play him free and pass to him on the perimater instead of doing it yourself. He may even repay you with a pass for an easy score if the opportunity arises.
requirements:
- opponent has to be a big man (good chance of low ball control)
- !not your mark!
- has to be in post-up position coming from either side of the corner
- your mark should to be in the corner or at least close by, so you can reach him quick just in case
- and well... good enough defense attribute
when your teammate is in intense-D pushing the bigman, approach him from the side or behind to sandwich the bigman and to be close the dribbling ball. also to note, you are staying in the line between the bigman and your own mark.
instead of attempting a steal the conventional way by pressing X, which leaves your mark open when failing due to you being caught in the animation and then him passing the ball, simply put intense-D and hands up. if he's passing the ball, you can still move back to your mark with ease. anyway, there is a chance that he'll drop the ball like a hot potato and you magically having the ball in your hands. there is no steal animation or anything and should lead to a fairly easy fastbreak because everyone's gonna be baffled for a very short moment which is enough to create a 2vs1 situation in the offensive transition. works against cpu in mycareer aswell minus the fastbreak.
and to stop alley oops, staying close enough to your man blocking the lane is suffice, be it the one passing or dunking. the passer will probably toss it out of bounds. you don't have to stick like a glue, but by simply being close but inbetween those 2's line of sight should prevent it, unless high playmaking attributes i assume.
but it's easier said than done if the gap in attributes are too big.
i also wish more people would be able to read when to switch at very obvious situations, like when being caught in a screen with the animation and alike.
You have to decide, will you play insinde or outside?
1.) To play inside, build a 6'9 Forward with wide wing span, push Athletic and Inside Scorer Stats, get Posterizer Badge and dunk NBA JAM Style on anything. The Posterizer badge is just stupid broken in my opinion, these players are only stopped if their lane is blocked early enough and/or you pull off a perfect timed steal/block. I watch Small Forwards dunks 8 or 9 times in a game over defenders who have position, it is just lame arcade basketball.
2.) To play outside, build a Guard and put your points and focus in/on 3PT shots, which means you wanna invest in Jump Shooter, Playmaker and some points in Athlete. With Badges like Volume Shooter, Microwave, Corner Specialist, Deadeye and Limitless Range you just can SPAM Outside shots like there is no tommorow. I had a guy hitting back to back contested outside shots and all were "swishhhh"....nothing but net.
The first days I thought that teamplay would dominate everything, but the 90+ rated NBA JAM Style Small Forwards and Three-Point-Spam-Guards just showed me again that you can hero ball with high rating and the overpowered badges. You will miss here and there, but myPark ist more about Arcade Streetball than Simulation.
After all that rants I have to add I play a 7'3" Center who has many advantages but also many disadvantages. Maybe you would disagree with my rants when you play a guard. It were just my two cents.
