How not to be an annoying mypark teammate...
I play in Old Town and notice A LOT of the following during 3vs3:

1 - Stop playing hero ball. If you are a 6'3" guard, you probably shouldn't keep trying to dunk on 2 or 3 guys at once. If we are up 14 to 10, you probably should pass to the guy wide open under the basket rather than taking that contested 3 pointer. Stuff like that.

2 - Don't chase the ball around on defense. Unless a teammate gets beat, you still have to stay on your man even when he doesn't have the ball.

3 - Stop gambling and trying to get steal EVERYTHING. It throws you out of defensive position and your teammates have to keep scrambling to clean up after you (and get scored on, so its like another form of hero ball because the 1 in 5 times you do get the steal and dunk on the other end you look good, but the other 4 times it doesn't work its not you getting dunked on).

4 - Make passes on time. If you are going to pass to someone cutting or someone on the fast break, you have to pass a bit before they get to the basket, and long enough before the defense can recover. If you wait till they are there, the defense recovers and what could have been an open dunk is now gone.

5 - If you show up with a player rated 71, and you have two teammates rated in the 90s, you probably shouldn't be acting like the first option on offense.

This list could keep going but these are the ones that seem to be the biggest reasons we are getting our butts kicked by other parks.

Even though I can make shots I usually pass the ball so that way they get good looks

All about the open man. High quality shots go a long way in winning a 2v2/3v3. Staying on your man is huge! I got my dude. Stay on yours!

Thanks for this. I've had great teammates and I've also had horrible ones. Let's follow some of these steps and kill other parks.

Yeah I should say too there are a lot of high IQ players in our park too. When I have teammates that read the defense well and make extra passes it can be really cool how we call end up in sync even though we can't really communicate with each other.

none of this matters when the opposing team throws 15 alley oops when they get the ball.
dae 2014 年 10 月 17 日 下午 12:20
If you stay in good position the alley oops turn into turn overs though
beet 2014 年 10 月 17 日 下午 12:22
lol its not about position, they just run back and forth and after a while you're not staying in the passing lane no matter who you are.

first of all, buying vc doesnt make you a better player than someone who is playing 12 minute quarters in my career. no one earned that 90 rating especially if they hang out in the park all the time. I'm not gonna pass up quality scoring opportunities to pass to some guy in all pink that just tries to dunk on everyone every game.

second of all, you dont usually know the ratings of people on your team. you cant see ratings once your on one of the dots.

but yeah i outperformed people rated in the 90s when i was rated 67 last weekend all the time. a lot of those people only know how to dunk and mash steal. I try to only play 3's (2 on 2 is really bad imo) and I average 5ppg and play solid defense over 27 park games and I just got up to 74 today.

Bear, yeah that's all true, I've played with a lot of low rated players that played smart and within the abilities of their player, and there are players rated in the 80s and 90s that do all the dumb stuff I'm talking about. But I am just saying that ESPECIALLY if you are a 70 rated player you shouldn't be hoisting up 75% of the shots... although ideally no one would do that.

I will never understand the people who spend money on VC to use their player in the park against people who dont have the VC to make a better player yet. Then they just run circles and dunk, or oop the whole game. I really dont see how anyone gets any fun from that.

And chinvenzo, if you play solid D and are able to body them up when they are near the launching pad their ally oops will turn into turn overs. The only time I am getting alley oops is when my defender is a ball chaser.
BearDownChicagoBearsHo 2014 年 10 月 17 日 下午 12:32
people actually shoot jumpshots in the park?
beet 2014 年 10 月 17 日 下午 12:37
lol yeah bumping the guy you know is going for the oop will stop them but the problem is they run around until you're off track, a player with higher quickness and speed will get away from you when they're just cutting all over. I dont throw alley oops in fear i'll wake a sleeping dog, and get 10 thrown at me if they get the ball back.

i remember playing with a guy in mid 80's 2vs2 and we tore up the court, we won like 10 straight times by basically just moving the ball since you cant really play D online, you're always gonna get crossed someway

The gameplay in mypark is more arcade, but still, so many people are so steal crazy that that's half the problem. I've started playing with a center (cause before I had a 6'9" finesse small forward but because I was always the tallest player I ended up always being the post defender so thought eff it), and I never guard anyone tight outside of 12 feet or so. If they do go for a jump shot I can usually close the gap, and since jump shots are harder online that usually works. So it doesn't matter if they are cutting all over if you aren't chasing them tight all over. I know you can still get beat even if you are playing good defense, but I've played enough games with teammates who played smart sound defense and a lot of the stuff you are complaining about can be minimized a lot. A lot of times I would be waiting to play the next game watching guys play like how Ive described, and they get dunked on left and right... but then when I came in with people not trying to play crazy, who made passes on time to open guys, played sound defense, stuff like that, we would win more than we lost.

And even if defense was impossible, that is true on both sides of the court
