This is a bad game do NOT purchase
This game is bad. For 60 dollars you can watch basketball played by cartoon men. Very frustrating basketball. In the MyCareer mode, you start with a player who can almost do nothing on the court. I liked this very much. If you don't have any vc to start with, you're going to have a hard time which is a big improvement over other 2k games but I think it may be the only one.
Another reason MyCareer will be harder in this game is... You guessed it, more scripted gameplay. There has been at the very LEAST 5 games where I get cheesed and then hear it from my mentor after the game confirming that it was the script. The scripted games really kill the game for me as rather than feeling better when I do pull out the win, I just feel like it was scripted for me to win.
Another problem which we see ALMOST every year is the AI on your team. I felt like the AI was worse from 2k13 to 2k14, and now from 2k14 to 2k15 I see they weren't done dumbing your team down. Your team will not take an open jumpshot unless you run a play for them. This may not seem bad but think about being PG and having to run plays until someone is open enough FROM A PLAY to shoot. The only exception is if the shot clock is running out, which can fall sometimes but more often will just make your teammates cold in my experience. If you bring the ball up, and kick it to an open man on the perimeter, it doesn't matter how open he is in the corner. With his man underneath the basket he's still not going to take that shot, and with his man running to defend him, he's not going to try to get by him. You will be lucky if they do a little jab step, and extremely lucky if they don't go into an ISO play where they actually just size up and waste the clock before they brick a shot.

Anyone who doubts the scripted games (i've seen a lot of people doubt them) wait until the team you're playing keeps taking moving screen fouls and it keeps you in the game. it's not even just in A scripted game, it's like when they want you in the game they are going to be sure to mess up and have you in it.
(Opposing team will make mistakes like illegal screens, which gives you the ball when you need it. In chris smooves latest video this happens to him but you see it one time rather than the 3 in a row or more I see sometimes.)

This game is not fun if you want to play basketball. If you want to save some money AND get a good basketball game, check out NBA 2K10, 2K11, 2K12, and, 2K13. They were all better games for the gameplay. If you like graphics and watching bad games then 2K15 is the game for you.
I am very serious in recommending the older games over this one, save your money!

EDIT: Your teammates DO NOT play defense if you're not playing good D. If you start seeing "good team D" then you'll know they're trying. If you're not seeing that, it means nobody is doing anything right and the opposing team will rip you. This game has serious problems and if you are planning on buying it WAIT FOR THE PATCH. If they dont patch this game, do not buy this game. You will be very frustrated.

i only pro on pro/simulation. but i havent seen any of this. maybe a little of your team not scoring, but i play SF so im usually not aiming for assists too much. Sometimes I have to set a screen to get everything 'in motion', but it isn't that bad. As for the scripted games I don't really have an issue with that at all, and you didn't really explain what you meant. You think the game sets up games for your mentor to talk to you, and then tailors the game to do that instead of just reacting to the actual game? I mean maybe but probably not as thats kinda ridiculous and would be way harder to program. I went for 40 and 7 rebounds and 43 and 7 rebounds my last 2 games (my first 2 as a starter), so thats pretty consistent. I play 12 minute quarters.

What do you mean with "keeps taking moving screen fouls and it keeps you in the game". I've never seen that happen and I lost a game with 45 points difference...

I'm playing as a PF and let the AI call plays. The other players react pretty decent in my games. A SG will shoot for the 3 if I set a good screen and a PG will drive in the paint if I set a good screen. My only problem is that I'm playing at the Bucks and they just suck balls. But they suck at a reasonable level when you look at the overall stats.

If and when you make a new player you will see that its the very same on that one.(the scripted games, i've made 2 pgs a sg and a center.) Also bump up your difficulty to HOF for just one game and you will no doubt see these problems. I also set good screens for my men, which does get them a lane and sometimes a bucket IF they arent tackled with no foul call. I also use the P&R as the ball handler to no avail, if I get a lane or an open shooter I get bumped or they miss. I have no problems scoring, rebounding, and finding open shooters. The problem comes down to the open shooters making open shots/layups/dunks. Also I was a huge fan of the cutscenes and things coming into the game but the problem is that it's made to give you these scripted games, rather then letting them happen and giving you the cutscene accordingly.

daantje, sometimes the opposing team will set bad screens over and over giving me the ball back 3 times in a row sometimes. Giving me a lead in some cases, and just keeping us in the game in others. If any of you saw chris smooves latest video, you'll see that he actually has this happen to him but he only shows the one time it happens, so you cant really see that it wasn't just coincidence.

If you play on the hardest difficulty why do you not think that your team would score less and that the other team would score more? How else is it going to make the game more difficult?

I've played on HoF since nba 2k10. I know I can handle the difficulty and I know how to win on it. I know this is obviously a new game but i've played enough to realize these are flaws and not just me being bad at the game. I have over 250 hours on 2k14 just on PC, and more than double on xbox, 40 hrs on 2K15 for pc.
and again I dont believe a thing you're saying about the scripted games and the cutscenes for 1 reason: It would be much much more difficult to program.

When you play 60 possessions a game or whatever sometimes stuff happens where they'll set bad screens 3 times in a row. I think thats a problem with the moving screen being too frequent, not that it's scripting it.

There hasn't been 1 thing thats happened to me in the my career mode where I felt like it was predetermined.

What are you talking about? Sure, the game has some things that needs fixing but it sounds more like you're really bad at this game than it does it's justa bad game. Complaining about MyCareer especially? If anything, they made it too easy this year. As a 73 overall SG on Pro, I lead the league in everything except SPG, BPG, and RPG. Have to be really bad "to not be able to anything" and even if you can't, do you really expect as a rookie to be going in and dominating the NBA? Nah man, just pick a new game.

i dont care. you didn't answer my question nor did i call you bad at the game. I said 'if you put the game on the highest difficulty, what is going to happen besides you score less and the other team scores more?'. And if that is your main problem why don't you just bump down the difficulty and see if it plays better instead of sticking on hall of fame and complaining that your AI controlled teammates who probably have a large ratings penalty from HOF difficulty are missing shots.

I noticed that coach will take me out of the game when my team is ahead and when I come back in, my team is way behind. But I know I am on a bad team (the pistons), so I don't get angry about it. The begining of the game while under the 10 day contract is geared to get you VC so you can begin to mold your toon, but doesn't let you do enough to get OPed. I am in my second season, I have been starting for the pistons at PG since my 4th game after the 10 day, we lose more than we win, but my team sucks. I hope to get traded to a good team in my 3rd season.

The difference in game play is more than just making and missing shots, try the HoF difficulty.. There is a reason why HoF difficulty is more fun for most people and that is that it used to be the only one with a challenge, and still is. It is beyond a challenge now though, as the gameplay prevents you from actually making a lot of plays.
let me put it this way. if the AI was playing the AI. and one AI team was on HOF difficulty and the other was on PRO difficulty, who is going to win? The one on pro. Just think of your ai teammates the same way. Sure you can give them nice passes and set nice screens but theyre still going to miss more shots than the other AI.

Anyways, why is this even a big deal, why dont you play my league? You're complaining about your teammates sucking in a game mode designed to have the player become the best basketball player of all time. You're supposed to score 50 points a game. Very few people wanna go out there and score 3 points with 14 assists in my player. edit: i mean its being marketed towards 12 year olds, have you seen the commercial?

I will grant you that teammates not shooting might be a problem as you arent the first person ive seen complain about it. but to complain that they dont make their shots and whatever else when youre playing on the hardest difficulty is just silly.

That is the problem, open men do not take shots or drive. Also i'm a point guard so I look to dish the ball too, not just go off for 50 every night. I like to play SIM basketball, meaning like realistically. Its VERY hard to do when your team doesnt even play like they know how. I may have to make a video to make my points clearer. If the problem is actually my difficulty then the game is seriously flawed. i'm 100% with you that it should be harder on hof, but making it harder by having your ai not shoot is just mind blowing.

Trust me man if my team would just take shots and brick them for 30% from 3 it would make me happy lol. I have not seen the commercial so I dont know what you mean, maybe it would have prevented me from buying it this year. Also I just want to point out that I DO NOT focus on 3 pointers, if I see an open man i'll hit him but i'm not that guy trying to cheese 50 3s in a game or anything like that. If you play simulation basketball this just isnt a good year to buy 2k.
