On Superstar everything seems to be behaving quite normal. Defense could be a bit more aggressive with boxing out, but in the end they grab enough defensive and offensive rebounds to even it out.
You shouldn't try to pass it in the paint or in traffic. Dribble along the 3point-line and drag some defender with you and then pass to an open shooter or give it back to the PG and let him do his thing. If you're the PG, well then you're going to have a hard time :)
HoF is the toughest difficulty for a reason. The other team will probably contest almost every shot and shoot better themselves while contested. If the AI can't get a decent shot and the shot clock starts ticking they'll just try to shoot through contest. Which probably doesn't end well, which gives the shooter a cold streak, which makes his next shot even worse, etc. etc.
Do you run full automatic plays with full playvision? That helps a lot to figure out what your teammates are planning to do.
Its always have been like this, if you want more fair and fun experience just drop the difficulty setting.
Here's the funny thing... Even with the Dev's bad logic, the game would play way better if they just allow players to play more according to their attributes and not the sliders (the sliders shouldn't even be there). The attributes are what define the players, so what's the point in Dean Bean having a 45 midrange shot if he's going to perform like he has a 99 midrange shot...? That's why all players for the cpu seem the same because they are performing based on the underhood code first and then influenced a little bit by the AI sliders.
The hard code is the main mess. When it wants you to miss all shots, it will put the lid on the basket and nothing you can do about it. You can't even leave a guy open behing the three point line, who you know can't shoot that shot because the underhood code will allow that trash shooting cpu player the hit the three. I left Looney open behind the three point line on nba2k16 and he pulls up and drills a three, nothing but net.
In real life, Looney would not even take that shot because he's not even a shooter, peroid. This is the kind of garbage players are tired of and so wish the Dev's would toss out the AI but again...they don't have the intelligence to write a good AI because if they did, they would have don't so by now.
