Actual directions to 1v1 with a friend

So there is no clear directions on how to play just 1v1 with a friend, my guy versus my friends guy. No other team members just us two versus each other. Any body know how to do it? Thanks!

There is no 1v1 mod where each of you control their own MyPlayer character.

Okay, what about any character? Just me and him playing who ever?

Go to NBA Today - Play with friends - then invite him to your locker room. Press advance and set the game mode to private team up or private all star team up, then you will be able to select team for each side, and each one of you gets to pick 1 player and control only him.

If you wanna play normal match, where you control all players, select Private match mode.

Will the rest of the team be playing if you do that? Cause we just want us to on the court, minus the rest of the team. Thank you though!

Yes the rest of the team (cpu) will be there.

There is no mode for 1 on 1 game (ie. curry vs rose)

You can do blacktop, but that's not online. He'd have to be in the room with you.
