Sketchy's Contract

Sketchy's Contract

Difficulty selector or custom settings?
Now, I read the "Lose ALL items and LOOT on full wipe?" thread and I was going to add my thoughts there, but my thoughts include a little more than just that aspect.

I wish there was a difficulty setting, because not all gamers are the same, and I was playing with two friends yesterday and we were doing SO GOOD... until we weren't. It was the last day of the contract, we had FINALLY got to security level ONE by staying overnight (I don't know how anyone gets to security level access 2 or 3, it seems utterly impossible), and we all died due to a player carrying a large item stepped on a land mine that he just could not see.

So, we lost everything, had to go back and failed the contract, and lost half of our levels (I went from level 22 to level 11). It's SO unforgiving. Some people like that, I get it, but I would love to see a difficulty setting or a way to set custom settings in a private game (solo or with friends) to make the experience more enjoyable for the specific player.

Custom settings/difficulty adjustments suggestions:
- Keep access codes active through a whole 3-day contract, even when entering orbit overnight
- Keep loot/items still on ship when full party wiping
- Keep loot on ship, and ALL items but have to repair those items that were brought (might be taking it a little too far, but it's "baby mode" I guess)
- Add compass icons for "vehicles" that take you to a higher access level area (not me getting lost in the f**king corn maze and dying because I can't find the carriage)
- Giving large items a little bit of transparency while carrying

I realize probably a loooot of people won't like this, and that's fine. If you want some sort of "punishment" I guess disable any future achievements planned for the game if custom settings are used.

I LOVE this game, and saying "I guess this game just isn't for you" is not the answer I'm looking for. I WANT to play THIS game. but like I said, not all gamers are the same, and it's a little rough for my group of friends and I think we would play it infinitely more if there were some custom settings available. :) Anyway, thanks for reading.

Hello Kellie!
Thank you for sharing your feedback in a positively constructive way! It's always encouraging to me as a Solo Dev to get feedback that is professional and positively constructive as really gets me wanting to see what I can do to help out my community and improve their experience, so thank you for this.

Let me just say that I have been evaluating player's for 6 months now and have decided that I will be working on a new major update to introduce small customization options to help with controlling penalties and difficult game features. In the update, the game will be defaulted to a more casual experience (for example, not losing suit level on failed contracts) where players can opt into more challenging ones.

There's always a fine balance between the vision I have for the game and what players want to see in the game so its not as easy as just giving everyone what they want, but I will be considering certain things that make a lot of sense and don't hinder the overall philosophy of the game's integrity.

In case you aren't aware, I do live streams where I discuss future updates with my community and gain feedback on ideas before releasing certain changes, so if you would be interested in being part of something that, you can always join the discord and follow my twitch account.

I believe this new design I am going for will help people like yourself and can't wait to get it out there! :steamhappy:

You can still get achievements with the new settings.

- Keep access codes active through a whole 3-day contract, even when entering orbit overnight
I really hope this is added, it'd make more sense anyway and it'd be super useful for solo/2 player teams. My friend and I have never seen the level 3 areas and likely never will as it currently is.

I'd also really like to see a match setting that lets us adjust how slow/fast time goes by so we can have a little more time on a planet before midnight hits.
