How to play Arsonate with a deck of cards.
I loved the premise of this game so much that I wanted to replicate a version of this to play on the go with a deck of cards. Keep in mind this is a rough idea and I'd love to get your feedback on it. I'm planning on playtesting this starting on Thursday and I'd love to get some ideas before then so I can try them all out.

-The red and black suits are divided and shuffled between both players.
-The player then deal out their cards to make a 7x7 grid of cards face down. (Note the middle row will be shared by players with each of them placing 3 cards in the middle row.)
-The Joker each player has will represent the fire tower and placed in the middle of the backrow closest to the player.
-The remaining cards each player has will be left to the side face down as a draw deck to replace any fire cards that have been extinguished.
-When a fire is extinguished, that card is removed and replaced with a card facedown from the draw deck.

-Each card has a different effect.
  • All Face Cards (King, Queen, Jack) are redraw cards forcing the player to burn a card on their side of the map.
  • Ace/2 are Crowbars. They operate the same as in the game except you can only use one per turn and can't steal another player's crowbar.
  • 3/4 are Spyglass. They operate just like in the game.
  • 5/6 are Fire Axes. They operate just like in the game.
  • 7/8 are Fire Extinguisher. They operate just like in the game.
  • 9/10 are Gas Can. They operate just like in the game.

The numbers are purely arbitrary and you can do any order way you'd like. I was also thinking about a making the Ace be a redraw card but then that would make one of the items potentially weaker than the other items. I was debating on making the crowbar or gas can to be the one that gets limited because these seem to be the most player agitating. Perhaps even removing one or both of those items and creating "safe" fire cards. However I don't want to stray too far from the spirit of the game. I think the crowbar balance is necessary but I'd also like to hear your opinion on it.
