Getting better starts in multiplayer???
I have purchased the game on both pc and ps4 and I find that while in multiplayer at starts I seem to lag behind everyone at starts and I can never keep up. Ive been playing Mx vs.atv since the ps2 days and I would be able to time the gate drops. As an example today I got in a full lobby on ps4 and I was able to time the gate drop perfectly and yet again I get passed but almost every one on the gate at the start straight. I just dont understand how thats possible. Im not saying that its a skill related problem its not rocket science to wait for the gate to drop on press the trigger. (Plz mind my spelling its late and I wana sleep but I just wanted to put this out :)))) ). oh yeah and the yz450 look amazing I got it on the ps4 :3

Use Manual Shifting. Start in 3rd gear and click up to 5th as fast as possible. Also you pretty much leave it in 5th the whole race unless you crash or in a few really tight turns on the outdoor national tracks. For whatever reason 5th gear manual goes a lot faster than automatic and you will probably find yourself clearing jumps you thought were impossible with ease. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

There are two controller presets that have manual shifting, but yeah, neither are optimal. If we could customize the controls the way wanted, this would not be an issue. But sadly the devs said it couldn't be done (as with so many things in this game) and they will consider adding it to the next game.

I cannot use manual shift because I didn't know about it when i bought. Now i press the sticks down without meaning to CONSTANTLY. if there was another configuration that allowed me to set the shift buttons to something else, maybe..

and LOL at 'not possible'.. just LOL

Even if the manual shift is not set to an ideal button/joy/trigger...it shouldn't really matter much bc after the start of the race you just keep it in 5th gear and use the clutch to regain speed.

I use the one where I have to "push" down on the joy sticks.. and I only do it from either 1st or 3rd up to 5th in the first straight away..then pretty much lay off it. This config keeps everything else I like where I want it.

Preset 5 is what you want and it takes getting used to as far as misshifting.

So start at gate in 3rd clutch in and dont move the bike at all. Listen to the crowd! Then BAM shift into 4th then a second later 5th then holeshot.
