Hope it helps,
Anyone else here played Untamed? I just need a comparison.
It's not quite jump 300 feet like untamed but it should still be enjoyable to you.
Alright thanks. Also, have they fixed the framerate issue for national races?
And are any of the DLCs worth it? I see there's a lot of them.
But I play with v-sync engaged because I cannot tolerate that much of tearing.
Gameplay wise, it is not that bad. It reminds me of gaming consoles...
I get the same performance at 4k with no AA as I do at 1080p with AA on my GTX 970. I blame this soley on the engine which Rainbow has already also acknowledged as the sole issue with performance.
Also why so many DLC's? Are any of them worth buying?
Is this game one of those games that feel incomplete and you have to buy the DLCs just to feel like you have the entire game?
My hypothesis around the hate is that basically this game is a re-packaged version of Alive - aka a game that saw the light back in 2011. Personnaly, I love that game a lot, but back then many people hated it as well, especially when comparing with Reflex - I like both, and I agree they are almost completely different from each others.
Now, to be more specific about Supercross Encore, I think the whole package is rather weak. I like the gameplay, I like to race - having to handle the bike, the clutch, the suspension -, I like the tracks and locations, the graphics and sounds are alright - except for the abysmal framepacing but I think the mud is looking great.
What feels really OFF to me is the player's progression. Upgrading your bike is pretty lame. Alive, despite having less content at launch, did a better job of providing the gamer with a purpose - i.e. grinding your way to 450cc. Right now you choose a category and you face an almost endless serie of races.
Also, I don't get that we don't have every single tracks from Alive included here. I miss that small 8-shaped track and a couple of others. What is bordeline dishonest is to re-launch the same DLCs we got with Alive - I'm looking at you Stewart Compound.
With all said and done,
I only recently bought this game and it was at the full price. I don't regret it because I'm able to appreciate a barebone experience as long as the core gameplay is great. I think also that it is important to support the old dogs that are Rainbow Studio.
I really hope the next game will provide a better "punch". We need more Nationals. We need a good career mode. We need a course maker - aka mods support - why not? Excitebike on NES had one back in the days...
I really wish the team is going well. I'm eager to see the next MX vs ATV instalment. Keep it up!
