Fix this game on Windows 10 (The easy way)

GAME CRASHING ON STARTUP (If you select Vulkan backend but not download it on LunarG website on the Vulkan SDK section of the website, this can happen as well) AND FIXING MUSIC (The easy way, i still haven't tried the hard way, with the ilmm.dll)

If you want to fix this game on Windows 10, delete the winmm.dll and that winsock32.dll (whatever the hell is the name), replace the winmm.dll with toshiba's one found here:

http://rr2000.toshiba-3.com/R4/PC/carma-winmm.zip

Then do the following:

1 - Rename that Carma2_HW.exe file however you want. (EX: CARMA2_HfW)
2 - Open CMD Prompt as Admin (You can find it in the windows search bar by typing cmd)
3 - Type this command: mklink "*insert directions to Carma2_HW.exe in the Carmageddon 2 gamefolder*" c:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe (* means you need to put your carmageddon 2 directory coordinates then the HW exe)
4 - After appearing a success message, close the CMD
5 - Open Steam
6 - Go to Carmageddon 2 then click the gear icon and game properties menus respectively
7 - On the initialization settings type the following contents: /c "*CARMA2FOLDER\NEWCARMA2_HW_exe*" (*means it's an example, whatever new name you gave to the HW exe you have to put there on the end of the coordinates, it's the same coordinates of the last one, your Carmageddon 2 folder, you can see where it is by simply clicking Manage on the game page then Navigate Game Files, a window will open, on the window, double click the order of folders on top of the same window then right click and copy or press CTRL+C, afterwards you can CTRL+V both on the CMD and on the Steam settings page that it will paste the thing you copied, use this command to speed up the process)
8 - Run the game and enjoy!

RUN NEWEST 3DFX CONFIG SETUP

1 - Download 3DFX's newest installation (on the NGLIDE website) then after doing so, extract the contents of the zip or .rar/7z then run the setup
2 - Complete the setup just like any other program
3 - After finishing the setup, type Nglide on the windows search bar, open archive's local files, do the same on the NGLIDE shortcut
4 - After doing so, copy the Nglide_setup.exe
5 - Paste it on the Carmageddon 2 folder

USE VULKAN ON NGLIDE_SETUP

1 - Go to LunarG website, click the download vulkan SDK button, click on whatever OS you use and download it.
2 - Open the exe and start setting it up, like any other program and after finishing, you're free to use the Vulkan plugin on your Carmageddon 2 or any emulator you use.

That's it. That's all you have to do to fix the game and update the Hardware Mode Engine, hope this helps anyone who comes across this game, or when they have recently bought the game.

BONUS: You can customize the game controls entirely using Carma Key Binder, also found on Toshiba's website.

On it just download it put it in any folder then execute and put your CARMA1 and 2 game folder's directorys in there (Yes, you can customize the game controls from Carmageddon 1 by simply searching every nook and cranny inside the program, you can find it pretty quick so it won't take long) set it up for Carmageddon 2 controls usage and start configuring, after you're done, hit the save Keymap_0.txt button and you're set!

You just need to copy the directory into the box, follow the instructions and stuff... keep trying you'll eventually get it. sorry for not answering earlier, had forgotten i even made this post.

All it does it opens a cmd window and the carma2_hw runs in the background(not responding), your guide is hard to understand, not very clear. (you probably not a native english speaker so i don't say it is your fault or anything)

Lol.....this guide is old.....anyone has a simple solution? Bought the game on steam and I'm not able to start it at all....

Here's how I got mine to work:

1 - I copied the files from this link for the Carmageddon 2 game at this website:
https://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide/compatibility
2 - I followed all of Lughzi's steps 1 through 8 then the 3dfx config steps but here's my version of it if you're having any issues with it:

7 - On the initialization settings type the following contents: /c "C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Carmageddon2\CARMA2_HfW.EXE"

8 - RUN NEWEST 3DFX CONFIG SETUP
a - Download 3DFX's newest installation from https://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide
b - Complete the setup just like any other program. I think that's all you need to do.

9 - Run the game using the Steam play button. Try changing the nglide resolution settings to your monitor's resolution if it doesn't work.
