Sorry to hear it Anno 1602 - History Edition does not start on your PC.
Please try all the steps from our PC troubleshooting guide:
Troubleshooting technical issues on PC[www.ubisoft.com]
Disable ALL 3rd party, unnecessary applications running in the background, especially 3rd party overlays like GeForce Experience, Overwolf and Discord.
Disabling background applications on PC[www.ubisoft.com]
If this does not help, can you tell us what CPU do you have in your PC?
If it is a multicore (8+) multithread CPU, I would try setting the CPU affinity to just one core.
You need to open the task manager, go to the game process, open its details and right click on the active process. Keep in mind that after every game restart this procedure needs to be repeated as Windows will asthmatically assign all available cores.
I have got the same error on Anno 1701 History and 2205.
I disabled all Third-Party programs and optional background applications, no success. The normal troubleshooting guide also showed no improvement. The game crashes before you are able to set the CPU setting you mentioned
I have an Intel i7-7700HQ 2,8 GHz Quad Core, GeForce GTX 1060
Win10 Pro on the most recent patch
I found no log with useful information (neither in Anno folders nor in the Windows Eventlog)
it seem like this issue occured on my device after the last update which was enrolled some days ago.
Let me know if I can provide you some more information to help with this matter
Yours faithfully
Peter
Thank you for kindly sharing this update.
As a next step we would recommend to reinstall Ubisoft Connect to your main drive just as DesiredPotato kindly advised, you can find a guide for this here - https://ubi.li/Q5YVj
Should you have any trouble, just let us know
I reinstalled both Anno (1404 History) and Ubisoft Connect (with the installer from Ubisofts website) on my C:. No difference, still the same startup error.
Sorry to hear it you still cannot launch Anno 1602 or other titles from the franchise.
Did you try launching the game in a compatibility mode? As Windows 7 or even older?
If not, locate the game exe file (it depends on where your Steam is installed. The default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\[gamename]), right click on it, open Properties, go to Compatibility tab and select an older version of Windows.
Also, when in this tab, disable the fullscreen optimisation if it's on.
Download and install Visual C++ 2022 redistributable x86 (not x64).
Check your DPI scaling in Windows. This feature is accessible via Windows Display Settings and it's called "Scale and Layout". Make sure it's set to 100%.
Let us know if it helped you.
Can you tell us what exactly resolved the issue in your case?
Also tried to uninstall all other vc++ redists to avoid possible conflicts, reboots after every step. Also tried to disable G-Sync and set the refresh rate of my monitor down to 60Hz, no success
Sometimes - not sure when - the Ubisoft launcher asks me to submit a crash report (have done this once or twice). Is there any possibility to view the corresponding logs to this? Maybe I will find a new hint to the issue.
Does this affect Anno 1602 - History Edition as well, or just 1404 and 2205?
If the other two, please post it in their respective sections of the forum, if you haven't yet.
