Thank you for your message and sorry to hear it you are having issues with Anno 1602 - History Edition.
What building is it that you cannot build? Is it a post office?
Have you tried researching it online, how other players build it?
Perhaps there is a requirement you haven't met yet.
To quit the game you have the Options button on the screen, where you can also find "Save" and "Load".
i played 400 hours anno 1404.. and 1701 and this i had back in the days also..
i know how to build stuff..
the kontor/office .. i cannot build it when i start a new game. i tryed it in maybe 20 different ways..
also you cannot go back to the menü .. you have to alt+f4 the game.. wich will eventualy lead to break and ruin the game files or corrupt them and you will have bugs..
why still sell this trash.. i right i forgot.. money tasts good. or is it the dev. ref to work 30 min on it to fix it.. haaa.. what i am thinking that would be to easy.. to make people happy.. -.-' i refundet it. good think companys like steam and paypal exists they let you refund.
You can go back to the Main Menu when you are in game.
Like Ubi-Vinci said, you have to click on the Options-button -> click on the blue Floppy disk (Spielstände) -> click on End/Ende
This will bring you back to the main menu. Imo not particulary obvious, but still the way it always was. Would have been better if they took the effort and changed that part of UI.
Should you ever wish to revisit this in the future then we will be more than happy to help
Every single continuous game will start you off with enough wood, tools, and food to start your settlement.
Have you played the in-game tutorial? It walks you through settling your first island.
