Could you please tell us how is it possible to play with somebody who is not in LAN connection with me?
rc2sm Mar 1, 2015 @ 2:22pm
If you mean play on one PC look here[www.cwaboard.co.uk]. This show mod, but it's same for base C1. The only problem is that this using win95 exec (which can be added to Steam version - look discussion in other topic). But maybe it's possible with DOS Box installation too.

I meant playing multi with somebody else over the internet. We'd probably need a third party software (like Hamachi) to establilish LAN first right?

Years ago we were playing sometimes HoMM3 trough gameranger. ( I have no idea if carma was ever listed on gameranger, I should prob check..)

-Altough I owned carma and even had dial-up connection in the early pc gaming era, I never tryed playing carma at multiplayer.

-The first guy mentioned this ipxwrapper - we tried to install it, both of us; but it did'nt help. I guess its due to what wrote in the first place, that we were not in LAN.

Not tested by me, but Hamachi should do the trick - you can find tutorial on-line.

You can try Hamachi, Tunngle, hifi's wsock32-internet, etc. Whatever you try, the netgame won't work well at all. It will go out-of-sync after a couple rounds in the best case scenario (host has a very fast connection (like, SUPER fast) or after a couple minutes :/
The problem applies to C1 and C2. We tried everything we could to circumvent the problem but to no avail so far. It's very annoying as LAN games work perfectly.
I still invite you to try with a friend and report how it went. Forgot to mention another way, a thing called CarmaLauncher. It should work with Steam/GOG dosbox version and tries to enable multiplayer via a master server (it's at RR2000, look for 'CarmaLauncher').

mmm I see. I've found the original topic: http://www.carmageddon.com/forum/topic/27650

so, does the CarmaLauncher do the miracle?
-=|Markus|=- Mar 2, 2015 @ 1:34am
..maybe I am doing it wrong, but I have downloaded the launcher from here:
http://rr2000.toshiba-3.com/pc-files

The readme.txt says that I need to download this file:
http://www.cs.au.dk/~ckr/C&SP.7z
-this site brings me up only weired cahracters like this:
7z¼¯'Ì”9½$nêumþG'ø"'ùy£ËÀS

Anyhow, I've checked if I could skip this step, and continue with the next one:
Then you should install C1 into the CARMA folder and SP into the CARSPLAT folder.
There are no C1 and SP folders, but the other two.. CARMA and CARSPLAT. However both are empty.

I am confused.
rc2sm Mar 2, 2015 @ 4:44am
This is not the site, its actually file opened in your browser. It means your browser doesn't recognize seven zip (7z) file extension (also its not set as file on the server). Just put the link to download instead.

The CARMA and CARSPLAT are folders where game is installed. So I think you need to put the other files to match that location.

Yes, you are right. I've already managed to download the file. Its basically the same as the folder I downloaded before.

Copying all the stuff to the ~/steam/steamapps/carma1 and running run.bat seems to be working.

Got coudn't connect to master server message. I haven't tryed to host yes, but later I'll open the required ports and see how smooth it is.

I'll tell you about the progress.

I am getting:

[Error:] Connection timed out: connect
-when I try to Host.
I've done everything according how I should.

^that happens when I try to do not private

When I tick the private:
It launches, but dosBox exits due to resolution...

Even singleplayer tells me: Error:
~Steam\SteamApps\common\Carmageddon1\DOSBox-0.74\Carmageddon.conf (The system cannot find the file specified)

( I have java installed; set the ports;... I have no idea what kind of config does it want from me, all the files in the folder were copied to the place where they should be )

I actually didn't test this CarmaLauncher so can't help you there, buddy :(
Something that comes to mind is maybe the master server is down? If I find some time, I'll try to test it as well!
-=|Markus|=- Mar 5, 2015 @ 3:29am
indeed. Thats the first thing that CarmaLuancher reports; that master server is down.
rc2sm Mar 7, 2015 @ 5:31pm
On C2 forum someone mentioned Tunngle[www.tunngle.net] which can be used instead of Hamachi. I don't know that tool, so can't say anything about it, except they say free version have Ad in it.
