It looks great, but does it not invalidate the space fauna completely? Like, research for bio ships and fauna is likely very similar conceptually, but the space fauna has its own distinct tree. Maybe combine them? It would actually make space fauna more appealing for bio ships users since it cuts the amount of research and makes it more coherent setting-wise. Otherwise it is definitely a great idea.

Like this idea a lot!

Also i would have loved to see the mechanic of the "base growth add" bonus from the weaver ship type added to space fauna as an innate thing like this: matured space fauna will give a growth boost to any space fauna of their species that is not mature yet.

In my idea i'm basing it on tyanki: each adult tyanki will give a flat growth boost of 0.5, up to 1 (or 2 i don't know what is better) on any tyanki in their fleet that is not yet adult. (0.5 because a cow and a bull should give a good bonus.)

For Amoeba, each will give 0.25, same for crystalline entity and voidworm. (0.25 because they are herd space fauna so the individue is less important into the growth of newborn)

For cutholoid, as their lore suggest that bigger cutholoid give their shell to smaller one, any cutholoid at a size bigger than hatchling will contribute to the growth of the size smaller than them.

Giving this "nurturing" mechanic to space fauna would be something really thematic and flavourfull as well as rewarding player that made their space fauna grow by cutting in half or doubling the growthrate of their newborn pet.
I actually had the same idea about growth bonuses! It will be a real bummer if they do not connect fauna and bio ships that way.

TAKE MY MONEY! ALSO, will there be more types of bioships in the future? For plants, fungus, and lithoid?
Plant and fungus bioships would be cool... No hate to the designers but I was already pretty disappointed with how bland the Plantoid ships look.

Yeah, the Plantoid and Fungoid shipsets look terrible in comparison with all all other shipsets. Including the upcoming bioships.

All that looks cool but... it is balanced?

I think so. it can only pass a 200 month wait into a 100 month wait. 50 month wait if you park them at a full vivarium starbase. It still need time to grow. a lot more than bioship from what i've seen.

for exemple a tiyanki ox take 80 years to be at this stage.

with the nurture mechanic i'm talking about, you still need 80 years to have your first ox (or a little less if you put it at a vivarium starbase) and after that you will need to wait between 40 years (with a +1 growth) and 26 years (with a +2 growth) to have other tyanki ox, which is still long.

Reminds me a lot of Genesis Rising. It may not have been the single biggest thing ever, and it had an economy based on blood (literally), but you had organic ships you could evolve with the proper modules.
And the meat ships remind me a lot about that game in terms of the whole evolutionary path and such.
Looks like meat's back on the menu boys!

Man, I remember of that game (Genesis Rising)... All its potential was wated due to bad writing and bad gameplay. :steamsad:

Hoping one day we'll get a spiritual successor to this in terms of gameplay.
Techno-organic ships that evolve and adapt to the battlefield's demands is just plain untapped potential.
And at least with this incoming expansion we're getting some of it.
Well they did say there will be a "two psionic ship sets" so we can only hope we'll get some sorta special ships in the other pack too!
