Hopefully, this is one of the main selling points for me, if it actually happens, and are not locked to the new species. Hopefully they have something similar to other ascension path cosmetics in future DLC. (provided they have enough content added)

What they have said is that:
There will be 2 new reactive portraits that will show the Cybernetic and Synthetic Ascension stuff.
Not that all portraits will now be reactive.

Now, it would be nice if all portraits got an overhaul, but I think that's something you're going to have to accept is going to be down the line updates if at all.

I suppose they are testing the waters and will be adding more as time goes on.
