You might be right. I remember having fun playing 3.4.
I've been wondering how many other people have experienced the same issue I have. As it is now, Stellaris is unplayable for me. But if this issue affected more people, wouldn't more people be talking about it? And if that's the case, what are they doing differently that prevents their game from crashing?
I don't think I have the new NVIDIA app. Unless you mean something more specific?
I posted in OP's other thread, but I have the same problem.
I personally think it is a memory problem, but I don't have access to the devs.
I wiped my gaming PC clean and reinstalled Windows and Mint. I only installed basic drivers for both and I still have the problem. The same crashes happen regardless of OS and regardless of drivers. I'm using Wayland in my Linux build.

64 GB RAM
12 TB over four WD Black SSDs.
Player count is meaningless. Why even mention it?
That was in relation to a question I had about how many other people were affected by this issue. They were just speculating.
That's not the problem because I do not use mods and my drivers are up to date. I updated the main post with that information.
What do you mean by that?
A known technical issue with a widely used piece of hardware:
