Also, Paradox isn't an indie company. You're not giving "a little treat" to anyone.
I misunderstood the length though.
But yeah, the season pass is only worth it if you're planning to buy all the DLCs no matter what, you'll get a 20% discount that way. Otherwise, best to wait and pick only the DLCs you want, if you think you might only want 1 of the 3 :) .
The subscription is a monthly payment to rent all DLCs.
When you pre-order you just give steam more money for them until they pay it out to the producer on release.
Same difference, the money is still going to them even if they haven't received it yet, and you can't refund DLCs.
