Aquatic Trait + Ecumenopoli and Ringworlds
Do these 2 world types conflict with the Aquatic trait?

I found this thread:

But it doesn't say how they can't take full advantage of the worlds. Also it's from 2021.

ecu and rings have a hab buff that normally results in 100% hab for all

you will still get the penalty for not being on an aquatic world

one way of thinking of it is that you are not working with the natural habitat but creating it. in such environment you could imagine work and living space for every ones unique requirements.

Hm, ok. I think there are enough technologies to make up for that.

Thanks.
Ecumenopolis and habitats are not ocean worlds. So yes, they conflict with aquatic.

yes, the penalties from aquatic being fakeandlameandgay are vastly outweighed by tech and ecu's inherent raw power
In the earlier version 3.7.3 (that's what I play) you could flood habitats and so get the aquatic bonuses as if it were an ocean world. They probably do something like that in the most recent versions of the game.

I think it would be great to flood a ringworld. A ringworld with the bonuses of an ocean world (and NOT the penalty for it NOT being an ocean world) for a fishy species would be awesome.

Not sure if it makes much sense on a ringworld, but I can see a ecumenopolis type thing on an ocean planet, like completely covering the ocean floor. They should add that.

The same with gaia/machine/hive worlds.
Even as habitability may be through the roof, you will swap your generic bonus for a planet bonus. You won't get both.

This could easily be fixed by making planets intended to be 100% habitability to everyone have a habitability bonus above 100%. If the code allows.

He means that special worlds like gaia, machine, hive, ecumenopolis etc have a "this is the same for everybody" bonus that will take priority over your specialised Aquatic benefits. In fact, you'll not merely lose the benefits of the Aquatic trait if you were on an Ocean World or in a Flooded Habitat (which is done by decision and uses up one harvested ice), but you'll suffer a +30% Pop Housing Usage on those worlds (or +45% if you took the Hydrocentric perk).

"you'll ... lose the benefits of the Aquatic trait if you were on an Ocean World or in a Flooded Habitat"

Huh?
I think I get it except for that part. Maybe you left out a word?

You mean the 4 worlds mentioned earlier don't count as Aquatic and so have the penalties of the Aquatic trait applied to them, right?

I didn't know about the housing!

Thanks! No World Shaper Perk for my Aquatics then!

Yup, that's generally my policy when I do aquatics. Used well it's powerful and fun, but you have to keep the fishies in the water!
Hey my thread !

Its ment to be like this, you dont get to have the power of the ECU and the trait, you need to pick and plan for either or of those 2.
