United Nations of Earth
Is that empire an intorductory or tutorial civ? I've been designing my own species, but decided to try the Earth people (since our last hope of peaceful unification goes away on Monday), and it was SO easy. I had five or six planets colonized, and still hadn't run across another species other than the curators and the probe. Is it purposefully designed to be easy, including the surrounding sectors? It's all fine, I just got bored after a bit with not a lot to do, since I was about at my limit of Influence, and was also starting to sprawl too much.
Cheers!

It's no different from any other Empire in the grand scheme of things. You were just lucky. Or unlucky, depending on how you want to look at it.

I thought that might be the case. I also ran into an inordinate number of anomalies and other special projects in just the immediate vicinity of Sol. There were also 5 continental worlds within one or two jumps, one of which was a Gaia world. Guess I just lucked out, but not much happened in the whole game, either. Maybe I'll keep the save to load up for games where I don't want to think overmuch. lol

As for Monday, this new group is not only going to ignore climate, they're going to actively work to make it worse. Glad I'm old and got my kicks before the whole sh!thouse goes up in flames.

UN of Earth get the Sol system start by default. It's one of the best starting systems you can use. Since you get Mars as a terraforming candidate.

Sol starts also get a handful of guaranteed systems nearby such as Bernard's star, etc.... Some of which have two habitable planets.

The thing to note though is that any empire can be customized to start in Sol. UNoE is just the preset empire that uses it.

Mostly out of curiosity, and I probly won't ever do it, but how would you start a different empire to start on Sol? Is that a Prosperous Unification thing? Obvs you can name your starting planet anything you want. Cheers!

It's one of the prescripted starting systems that you can choose during empire creation.

UNE gets spawned as the same race as the player if the "Lost Colony" start is chosen I think. It's always an "advanced AI" with a kickstart
I never play as Humans or pre-set empires. Always more fun to start my own.
Every Campaign has colonizable planets within 3 jumps so never been much of a problem. It guess it would be fun to Have Sol and contrast it to our own Solar System.

- Regarding Monday. This is just getting silly and I think its time everyone stops listening to MSNBC, Huffington Post, Fox, and other corporate owned bias streams.

The Blue Team lost in a Huge way. Their candidates were horrible and their policies are Horrendous hence over half the country taking a stance. Continuing to double down and throw blame everywhere is not helping their case. Time for some Self-Reflection Pelosi-crats.

And No there will not be an Abortion Ban at the Fed Level, No Proj 2025 will not be supported by the new Admin, And No Putin is not buddy buddy with the President and No the Russian Collusion Lies did not have an impact. #Hunters Laptop

I've only ever played as the United Nations of Earth - I know, boring! But I like what I like, I'm sure I'll branch out someday.

Anyway, I've had a complete mixed bag of starts, but none quite as comfortable as the one you've described there!

It's likely that the game will get MUCH harder later on, especially if you're new to this. You WILL encounter other empires eventually, and around mid-game, especially late-game, some interesting, possibly apocalyptic things, will happen.

Oh, and, first-timer tip... if you find any Gaia worlds with the "holy world" descriptor... don't settle on it unless you want the game to get waaaaaaay more difficult.

I'm not a democrat, so I don't take any responsibility for their many, many failures.
I'm just going from what the incoming president has said he's going to do. Tariffs and mass deportations are both horrible ideas that will tank this economy. Or he's a liar and doesn't do either one.

There was collusion with Russia, as confirmed by the republican controlled Senate at the time. But that's all over. Again, I'm not a democrat, so waving Hunter's laptop around is meaningless.

2-part question:
Did Biden cheat to win in 2020? If he did in 2020 - on Trump's watch - why didn't he cheat in again 2024, while he was in the White House?
If Biden didn't cheat in 2020, then Trump led an insurrection against the United States Congress in an attempt to overthrow the fair and secure election.

Was this thread just bait to lure people in so you could start vomiting your politics at them?

It was a parenthetical statement on my reason for playing as UN of Earth. If someone wants to pull at that thread, I'll continue the conversation in that direction, also.

I'm not new, per se, I've had the game for a decade or more. I haven't played a ton of it over that time, but I'm getting more into it lately, partially bkz I got Utopia at the winter sale. I don't seem to finish a lot of games, tho. It also sounds like the whole game is about to undergo a big re-work, too, just as I was getting a handle on pops! lol
As long As I was playing stellaris I had never played une or any other preset empires. Why should I when I can create my own.
