4.0 is going to ruin the game
Devs announced 4.0 update they are "simplifying" down the game to make it easier for "new" players. Because Paradox doesn't care about the people that paid for them to build the franchise into what it is today. Not sure why I thought Stellaris would survive the brain drain when every other game that the made got the same treatment making them generic games with nothing special.

Stellaris 4.0 is going to be the best version yet.
So revert to an older version.

Problem solved.
for the love of the gods, please those who are pissed about this just UNINSTALL it! trust me, it'll save the headaches of whats to come. I keep tabs on this game just to see how bad they are going to push dlc and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ updates and this is a victoria and crusaders dlc grab, so glad i ditched this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. hopefully with the new winds in the world these trash developers go out and someone else can get the good IPs. honestly people..look at the cost of the FULL dlc for some of their games and look at what it actually adds..
I still play 3.7.4.
From what i see this game version performs worse then old so what the ♥♥♥♥ is the point of this messy ♥♥♥♥ come on we got promise new pop system to improve game performance by a good margin guest what it got worse a by a good margin so i guest they just rush the update and lunch it without a care on the world
I am not sure what possible struggle with competency thinks that this planet system that is utterly rife with opportunity costs and is so complex the ai just forks it right up is in any way simpler than anything.

It's more complex in several dimensions including nothing telling you what buildings you'll be able to build in what unlocked specializations, order of operation blockers meaning you can't queue buildings before unlocking slots so you have to sequence micro it all, and it's slathered heavily over a fundamentally broken pop growth system that fails more often than it doesn't.

Woe to the fool that runs a policy that doesn't include relocating pops. you'll never settle another planet.
Spoiler alert it did 🤣🤣🤣🤣 guest im not that hyped on fixing my rig until june

maybe but at long term currently the new version perfomance worse then 3.14 even with updates looks like they really rush this is no where ready to what we got promised and if im honest im having the ick that performance will not jump by alot it has to come back to where was before but also improve to what they promised maybe around 50 to 70% increased which sounds disappointing
There is some comedy that the OP was worried about simplification when PDX actually managed to make it more complex through use of a terrible UI. All of this relearning of systems, made more difficult with a horrible UX, for performance gains they did not achieve. I do not get it at all.
Going too? If i want to play with friends we've had to roll back to before astral scars to have a functioning multiplayer. That's over a year of rollback now just to use a core feature of the game!
Previously, pop was counted by unity. 1, 10, 100 and more (millions or billions ?).
Now you have 6000 citizens in a giant colony.
Absolutly Logic !

Its harder to see what job is effective and what job is useless for now.
Why the game tell me i have 1, 3 or 6 unemployed workers if i have 23k free civilians ?

Absolutly broken and unclear system.

^

Whilst they somewhat reduced scrolling on planets in certain parts, they somehow managed to INCREASE it in others...

Man i love removing blockers when i can only see 2 of them at once in the new UI...

And dont get me start on wrong/lying tooltips...

I'd find it hard to believe Paradox would ever 'dumb' a game down.

Huh? But they did 1.9 -> 2.0

Districts and building slots were absolutely a step up in complexity from the tile system.

I'm glad they are leaning into districts more. only having 12 building slots limited resources only generated by those buildings. I can make a 25 size unity producer off the bat instead of keeping those on the smaller sizes (10 or so) or waiting for weird end-game planet types (looking at you, biotrophy ecumenopolis). that enables quite a few builds, but the op is still right about 4.0 wrecking the game (for all the wrong reasons)
