4.0 is going to ruin the game
Devs announced 4.0 update they are "simplifying" down the game to make it easier for "new" players. Because Paradox doesn't care about the people that paid for them to build the franchise into what it is today. Not sure why I thought Stellaris would survive the brain drain when every other game that the made got the same treatment making them generic games with nothing special.

"Rework pops! game performance is terrible! wah wah wah"
"They're reworking pops! game is ruined! wah wah wah"

There's no reasoning with people like you, and you failed to mention you can revert to stay with any older version of the game if you don't want to play with the new system.

and future updates and currently broken things will not work and be incompatible in the future. Imagine simping for a corporation... smh

Could you explain in more detail, ideally with some quotes, what part of the dev diary you're interpreting as the devs wanting to "simplify" the game? Because I didn't get that impression at all.

I can't wait for them to finally get rid of pops. This was the obvious thing to do since tiles got the axe.

I'd find it hard to believe Paradox would ever 'dumb' a game down. They might make something more streamlined and less convoluted but they generally do whatever they want in terms of complexity (or anything for that matter). I'm just now getting back into this game after about 2 and half years of not playing and I might as well be brand new at this point. If they can do things that lower the learning curve but keep depth - then I'm all for it.

Huh ?
From what I saw so far 4.0 looks Great.
Its basicly lots of stuff People have been asking for.
Frankly the only Complaint I got. Would be that they are not going far enough.
But I still hope that the Announcements still to come will add more.

If it makes the game stop from running on frames per minute on late game i am more than fine

Honestly.

Pops have sucked ever since 2.0. I'm pretty excited to see an alternate system.

Or was there something else in 4.0 that's the problem?

I can literally tell that everyone in the comments never messes with pops and uses pops to get their ascensions earlier and better to win at 20x crisis and just presses colonize and build buttons lol

I have no idea what this means. Messes with pops? Like microing jobs? Gene modding?

And using pops to get ascension earlier? I mean, my construction ships certainly aren't going to be generating unity.

As someone who, on Grand Admiral, normally sticks to my homeworld and rarely colonizes, I don't see the issue. It's not like a change to Pops mean it's suddenly impossible to build up a large populations on a single planet.

Honestly, calling it a "removal" of Pops is disingenuous; it's just a different way of representing population. One that hasn't been explained in much detail yet, and thus not worth doomsaying over before you even know anything.

Moreover, if 20x Crises became impossible, that would arguably be a good thing. A game shouldn't be so easy that you have to modify the default settings by 20 times to get any kind of challenge. Personally, I'd love if the game didn't require self-imposed challenges to be any fun.

"We've spent years selling you ever-more-bloated and arcane expansions... but now in response to consumer demand we're going to be streamlining the game back down to its core."

Pretty sure the short version of that would be "thanks for the cash, suckers."

They're obviously not removing DLC content. It's a bit ridiculous to insinuate that.
