How do i merge fleets on PC?

I have played Stellaris for a long time on PS5 while having it on Steam for PC and now i decided to do a achivement run. I have two fleets and i want to merge them but i can not understand how.

Assuming one of them isn't a ship that is unable to be merged, there are two ways of merging them.
Select both of them and then click the merge button on the fleet window on the left side, of the fleet you want to be the host, or just click 'M' (I don't know how it'll decide which fleet is the host).

there is only one merge button for all selected fleets, game decides with its algorithms which fleet is the host(usually biggest one and with leader)
also, for me hotkey is G, not M...

Oh, I said M out of memory because M for Merge.
If you click the button I know the one you clicked on becomes the host though.

just checked - no
there is only one button - above all selected fleets
and host will be chosen by system rules

Mmm, I'll have to check again. Maybe I've been mistaken because I usually join the smaller ones with the big ones and I thought it was just a coincidence.

i think its always bigger one(having admiral matters too, i think, maybe as secondary factor)
but bigger one can be in defferent places in the list of selected fleets

If they're both in the same system, click the fleet icon which will bring up panels for both. Drag and drop your ships one at a time or by ship type, whichever way you want. Some ships can't be merged at all, tho.

Select designated fleets and press G.
If their summary size exceeds your current max allowed fleet size, the operation will not be available.

I cant. They sit next to eachoter and i press both left and right buttons but i can only click one fleet at a time. I press both G and M without any effect

You need to have all fleets you want to merge selected at the same time.
You need to shift-click them, or dragbox if they're in the same place.

I just found out that it seem i need to have the mouse pressed while seeing the galaxy and make a square around the system to bring up all ships and then the merge button is highlighted

The keyboardsetting have not been altered, but it seems that there is something wrong with it

You can also just click the ship icon in that system to select all fleets.

My personal bugbear with fleet merging is that it won't attempt to merge multiple fleets into multiple max-capacity fleets. If I'm going to have to merge fleets manually ANYWAY, then I don't see why it doesn't try to shove everything into as many max-capacity fleets when I ask it to automatically.
