Bugged tech can't be finished and blocks autoresearching repeatables
I'm already at late game, where I have researched all the techs I want, so I might as well set the auto-research on.

The option to research "artificial breeding" never appeared. I'm guessing I don't have the pre-requisites, but I can't check since this tech is not described in the wiki.

In any case, due to some research of space fauna corpses, I got partial research in "Improved incubators". This means the option to research "improved incubators" is permanently there.

However, when I research it, it seems to check if I have the previous research finished. Since I have not, it discards the tech researched. Since I have partial research due to investigating the corspes (or due to some event, I don't even know), the existing research is not deleted, so the option to research it again appears in the tech list.

It also appears that auto-research has preference for non-repeatables. This means that when I enable auto-research, the game tries to finish the bugged research, it discards the research, it appears again in the list, and autoresearch chooses it again. This means that auto-research is simply throwing all my research points into a black hole.

I tried to look for console commands to remove the partial research, but I can't find anything. I can only find commands to finish the research, not to remove it from the list. And, as I said before, I can't finish it because somehow it's missing the previous research. I can't also finish the required "artificial breeding" through commands because I can't find the research ID in the wiki (since this tech does not appear in the wiki).

This seems like a bug.

I think it's meant to appear after you actually clone your first space fauna. There are several technologies like that when it comes to space fauna.

Ah, hold on, now I know which tech we're actually looking for. You need to research Genome Mapping first if you're not a Beastmaster empire.

EDIT: Ha, ninjaed.

I tried giving myself that tech ("research_technology tech_genome_mapping"), but apparently it failed with message "Could not research technology tech_genome_mapping".

I'm guessing being a gestalt machine blocks me from researching this. And this means the option to research those further techs will be impossible.

I consider that having those techs mid-research in my list just polluting and never being able to be finished is a bug.

The bug could be fixed, or we could have the option for ignoring techs (hiding them permanently and not being auto-researched), which would also solve the issue..

Report it over on the official Paradox forums. The developers will actually see it there and can make inroads to fixing the issue.
