What happens if you are a subject and get Cosmogenesis? (Machine Age Spoiler)

I read online that your empire essentially becomes a fallen empire if you do cosmogenesis, and you have to play as a new one, yeah? Well what happens if you are a subject of another empire and get that ending? Does the fallen empire stay as a subject (setting up the next one you play as), or does it get free?

I am not sure if you can become a Subject if you are a crisis empire.

How so? Does it remove the ascension perk until you gain independence?

That's what I'm wondering. The wiki says that this crisis doesn't make the galaxy collectively war against you, it just drops their opinion a bunch. It does not seem to deny you can do this, but it doesn't really confirm anything either.

My scholarium subject goes cosmogenesis once, had the lathe and some fallen empire ships too, but IIRC they are barred from cirisis level 5 so they cannot do the endings

Ah, so that's how it works. They probably made it so that level 5 empires can not apply for being subjugated either if that's the case.
