I think garrison armies are fine for what they are. Really, the entire ground combat needs an overhaul to be something interesting and tactical. Until then, I don't think there's any point wasting development time on such a lack-luster system.
Yep. Stellaris ground battles are total shame.. More like they were out of budget when were producing the game..
Something tactical like at least commanding armies on global generated maps (unique for each new planet) would be great.
Auto battle or click on fight button if not that lazy like in Total War..
Personally, I agree that 'ground combat' could actually be a thing, but add in a tech to allow battleships and cruisers to carry assault troops in any case.
