Bought the game - but Learning Curve is too high
I've been really wanting to play this game for a long time. I bought the base game and some of the recommeded DLCs and tried my first stint via the full tutorial.

While I have played RTS games in the past - I've never played a 4X and thought with such amazing reviews Stellaris would be a great game to start this off with.

However I feel I've bitten off more than I can chew - Im not giving up - but i find even the tutorial very daunting. I'm completely lost in the hundreds of aspects within the first 15 minutes of the tutorials

Can someone guide me as to what I should be doing this?
- Do I just keep going in the tutorial and the game will "eventually start clicking"?
- Is there are better way to learn the game other than the main campaign?

Stellaris 3.8 Beginners Guide - UNDER 16 Minutes
Just play the game and learn as you go, my first play through had me attacking a 400K fleet with 2 3K fleets cause I didn't know.

When I first began playing, I had no idea what to do. Like, I literally couldn't figure out how to move any space-based units, no idea how to interact with worlds, couldn't even open up the galaxy map.

So, do this: just load a game, pause it, and examine everything. From the top of the UI where all the resources and most important statistic, to the outliner on the right showing your worlds/fleets/bases, to the bottom where it tells you the current system, who owns it. But be sure to familiarize yourself with the left, very important menus are there (tasks, contacts, governmental stuff)

After you can understand the UI, take it slow by doing various simple things. Put the speed on the lowest setting, and try building something on your world that you need. Try sending your science ship out to survey a few systems, use your construction ship to build some mining and science bases in your system.

Take it from there, buddy. No worries about it at all. Everyone goes through the process of learning things.

Pretty much all paradox games are like this, yes eventually everything clicks, in general keep a tab on the pop ups in the top left corner, they will let you know what needs attention and just keep at it. first game will likely end with a fallen empire or some late game crisis steam rolling you.

Part of the problem is fans of these 4x style games like the complexity, if it were simple enough to be easy to learn then the core fanbase would likely abandon it for something else.

Welcome to heavy strategy games, son/daughter/etc.

I agree that it's very high, I bought this years ago and am only now finding the time to focus on it. As others have said, give it a shot. All of this publisher's games are very deep and heavy game-wise. If you put the time into you, you will be rewarded.

Also, take advantage of the automation features. All the ships, planets, and almost everything else has a button that allows for automation, allowing one to get used to the big picture and the many UI elements. Pause a lot too.

P.S. The battles in this game are just fantastic to watch. Don't give up!

When it first came out it was actually pretty simple and clear...since then a lot of what has been added mechanics wise is simply fluff, appealing to the dedicated players and spread sheet simulator crowd, but making the game overly complex for new players.
Honestly I just began getting the hang of it recently - Run a few playthroughs to the end, and eventually you'll realize what you need to be doing

Automate colonies

For what it's worth, the next patch is meant to help address exactly this. They're implementing these optional mini quests meant throughout the game that are meant to help guide newer players,

ooo that sounds great. Is there an ETA for this patch?

It's still a few months out, unfortunately.

play a game in a very easy mode, so you can experiment, it's not an hard game, most of the time it's all about keeping an eye on the main resources like credit, mineral, food, consumer goods, alloy

End of May, start of June, I'd suspect, based on previous update history and their own projected schedules. In the meantime, there are some good "every click" guides for Stellaris on Youtube and more general guides from a variety of creators who've been doing this for years across multiple different versions and iterations.
