Void Dweller food issue

How would one go about defeating this, aside from using most of my limited building real estate on hydroponics farms?
Its very difficult budgeting food and buildings when I have so many space fauna through cordyceptic drones.

If you're a Hive Mind then it is going to be very difficult. Regular empires can diminish the downsides of Void Dweller by incorporating other species into their empires so they can go planetside.

Unless you can find some Gaia worlds you're going to have to build hydroponics farms. That said, if you can make it to a point where you can get World Shaper or you luck out and get the Baol precursor you'll be set.

You could also create Prospectorium vassals and get basic resources that way but it's very inconsistent.

There are also livestock options (I think Hive Minds can do this) but that may be impractical given the limited space on habitats.

Yeah for Hives any start that modify their habitatility is just death.

On year 300 I had my 1 ringworld segment unrepaired and 1 relic world. Everything else was 30% and only because I have taken a perk that set hab to 30% minimum.

Food is the cheapest ressource there is, try to focus on energy credits and just buy the food you need. Also build the food building on every space station.

I actually did get the Baol precursor so that's extremely lucky
