I think it's early to say whether or not it's "broken". It broke the old strategies because planetary populations are completely different.
they are fixing it, but its slow going
I think its in a better state now but theres still some lingering things to be fixed
It IS A LOT of changes though, for the better. End game lag being a big reason for a lot of the changes
I like the new Planet management, its taking time to re learn how to do it though because it is quite different now.
But in the end its all for the best
I think what I like most about the Planet Management changes is that you can now build more than one of certain buildings
Like the Alloy Forges or Energy related structures and such.
There are a lot of bugs, some of them showstoppers.
Many of the changes are really side grades. Different, arguably better. Definitely an introduction of unnecessary complication which results in some unmanageability.
The performance issues are much worse.
The interfaces for planet management are bizarrely convolved. Planet management is an order of magnitude more complex. Planets do the same exact things they ever did, so this complexity did not result in any gameplay improvement, just made the game less accessible and more difficult to work around contrivances.
There's a lot here you have to wonder what the design intent was, because it doesn't deliver on anything that benefits the game.
and it's a buggy mess.
They have fixed a lot of the worst bugs in hotfixes, but there are still plenty of smaller bugs left.
But i would say its in a perfectly playable state at the moment (unless you are one of the unfortunate souls that still have hard crashes and the like).
I disagree, having played multiple hive mind games since 4.0's release. Even before 4.04 it was playable (But you needed a lot of unemployed maintenance pops for maintenance and needed to constantly balance unemployed and employed pops. And trade was also worse then now), after 4.04 there is no particular issues for hive minds over normal empires.
? No. The issues was introduced with the rework patch that you get regardless if you buy the DLC or not. There are some small bugs with the DLC specific content, but if it was just that there wouldn't really be much of a issue.
The game, but you need to be on 4.0 to use the DLC
Well since 4.04 where they increased the amenities from (among other things) hive warrens & drone storages and made logistic drones give more amenities i find it a non issue, by admittedly first throwing down a single drone storage or hive warren at a new colony i very rarely need to use maintenance drones anymore (At least until very late game where you have huge specialized worlds. If anything they may have buffed it to far).
If you haven't tested a gestalt since that hotfix i recommend retrying them.
