[GUIDE] Stellaris for Beginners – 10 Tips to Build a Successful Empire
Hey everyone,

Whether you’re new to Stellaris or just coming back after a break, I’ve put together some beginner-friendly tips that helped me get the hang of the game – hopefully they’ll help you too!

1. Focus on economy first:
Energy and food are your lifeline. Build generators and farms early before going all-in on research.

2. Specialize your planets:
As of patch 3.x and later, it’s more efficient to designate planets by function – for example, one for agriculture, another for alloys, etc.

3. Always keep some Influence:
Influence is limited – don’t spend it all at once! You’ll need it for outposts, diplomacy, and certain edicts.

4. Explore early:
Send your science ships out ASAP. The earlier you know your surroundings, the better you can plan expansion and defense.

5. Protect your science ships:
Build a few corvettes early on. Losing a science ship to pirates or space critters is a big setback.

6. Choose Traditions wisely:
“Expansion,” “Discovery,” or “Supremacy” are strong early picks. “Supremacy” is great if you plan to go military-heavy.

7. Use espionage:
With the spy system, you can gather intel on neighbors and prepare for wars or diplomacy. Very handy with rival empires.

8. Understand crises:
Endgame crises like the Unbidden or Contingency can wipe out half the galaxy. Keep a strong fleet and be ready to unite the galaxy when the time comes.

9. Use sector automation:
If you’re managing too many systems, let governors handle the workload. You can focus on your core worlds and big decisions.

10. Try DLCs and mods:
If you want more depth, DLCs like Utopia (for megastructures!) or Federations (diplomacy overhaul) are great. The Steam Workshop also has fantastic mods.

Hope this helps some of you out there! Feel free to share your own tips or ask questions – I’m happy to help.

Good luck out there in the stars!
