Need recommendation for where to look for sources that will help in learning the basics of this game. I have tutorial on full but alot isn't being discussed in it. Example I disabled a rebel fleet but can't figure out how to initiate a boarding action. I realize many of you have years of experience. Just need a basic guide to get my empire going. Thanks in advance!

Look for montu plays or aspec "noobs guide to stellaris" on YouTube and make sure it's close to version 3.14

BTW, that example of boarding isn't a normal action you can do, it's specific to one of a few possible early game events.

Thank you. In the early tutorial somewhere it states I should board the disabled ship. My military starter fleet has no option to board. I'm probably missing something or misinterpreting. I will look into those sources. Appreciate you.

You have to build Armies to board the ship. You can do that on a planet directly, or in the Army-tab of a starbase.

Though, unless you're interested in the story line, you might want to do yourself a favor and just leave the cultist ship as it is. If you continue the quest line, fleets will spawn in systems near you and make expansion a lot more annoying.

Thanks for the tip. Sounds like a winner.
Theres a lot of youtube videos, you should just be sure that the version number listed is (at least close to) 3.14

as you are maybe aware, in 2 months and a few days we get a big 4.0 update
supposedly that gives some 'quests' that run in the background and help for some general guidance on what to do

Some things are just not done properly by devs, so no tutorial will explain those to you. Just ask specific questions or look into wiki for tips.
As for your issue, iirc you just have to place your fleet right near that event [!] in system mode (not galaxy map mode), that should do the trick.

That's a rather specific wording. Was a release date announced?

with stuff like that sometimes you just move your ships nearby, for boarding, use an army you build, not an existing land army, but a transportable army that you build, and move it over there, then from your log you can complete the event.
