what happened to android armies?
so ive been gone for years and decided to get back into it.

i got the android tech like usual, the one that says "unlocks:robot armies" so i know i dont got the wrong wrong. but i still cant build them at any of my planets that have robot assemblers. i know stellaris devs like to constantly change the rules of what things do over the years but im not getting anything that would tell me what i did wrong.

looked it up a little and i see some old posts about how they just completely removed it without a single mention? is that true? if it is true, then whats the point in the tech still existing? and are synth races less viable as a result.

Robot armies require robot pops, same as bio armies requiring bio pops - you can recruit one army per pop. Later technologies and certain events (some from DLC) enable certain types of army with no limit, such as Clone Armies or Flamestorm Troops.
Are you selecting the planets where your robots are?
Did you check your species tab and make sure their military service setting allows them to be used as armies?
I just made a Mechanist origin empire and while i start with robots their default setting is exempt as you can't assign them to armies until you get the Artificial Specialist tech

Probably since the first iteration of robots can't be used as armies, so their rights would be locked to exempt just like in the mechnaist origin. Since it didn't auto change in my test run chances are it didn't for you either.
It would probably auto change if i set the default empire rights that all species can serve in my army but i already quit the little test run and deleted the save, and don't feel like making another run just to test that.
