Automation worth using?

Is planet automation worth using at all, or is it a waste? I've noticed it do questionable things, as well as just working fine, so i'm not sure how it is in the grand scheme. I love being lazy, so if it's viable...

It often does a worse job at managing your economy than what you could yourself. I only use it where my empire becomes massive enough to where I put some planets on automation just to give me more attention to focus on other things while I occasionally check up on it and make adjustments manually if need be.

Just not at the start of the game, only when you have so many planets it's not worth the effort to manage all of them.

Though from my experience it wasnt awful. For example it will if you put it on automation instantly after it came out of the colonization timer make the planet exactly how every other AI empire does. So due to the AI isnt the smartest thing in the game the economy of said world will end up not as good.

i haven't tried it myself, but heard both that it works and does not work

Yes.

For stuff you want to groom, yes. Just do the import bits first to guide the automation.

It will lock enforcer jobs causing the risk of crime events and build holo-theatres at -1 amenities.
