I like to think of exploits as potential modules
if your going to put that much life effort into you might as well try to monetise it also
Here's a starting point to get into modding:

The Gravitals were defeated by the Asteromorphs.
I thought the whole thing was a bit of a cheat, calling things "human" to tug at the heartstrings but it was just creatures descended from humans. Humans are descended from trilobytes, but we dont call ourselves trilobytes still, and say "wow look what our trilobyte civilization has produced".
If you devolve some human line into brainless worms, you have a new species. Its a decendant of human, and no more human then we are trilobyte.
But it was an interesting, if weird, tale.
I've actually had some ideas to get my feet wet. Anomaly and Archeological sites that hint at events long since past.
